Justin Trudeau fails to mention Alberta in Canada Day 150 speech
Source: Global News Canada
To celebrate Canadas 150th birthday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave a speech to a cheering crowd in Ottawa Saturday, highlighting the diversity and kinship of all the provinces and territories.
However, he failed to mention one major Canadian province in his speech Alberta.
We may live in British Columbia, Yukon, the Northwest Terrirtories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland or Laborador
but we embrace that diversity while knowing in our hearts we are all Canadians, he said to during his speech at Rideau Hall.
Within minutes of this, people took to social media to point out the mistake. Some saw it as a harmless mistake while others took it a little more to heart.

Yeah... that was bad.
Many are making much of it, in that his father Pierre Trudeau had ongoing issues with Alberta, and the current administration intends to advance on renewable energies instead of Alberta's oil.
So yeah, that was bad.
Still... if this is the biggest gaffe a country's leader makes...

(18,402 posts)I was reading an article in the NYT about Canadian comedians, especially regarding US politics. And I recalled, having spent a lot of time in Canada during summers as a child, how even then I realized how much they knew about us and how little we knew about them.
So I tried, silently to myself, to name all the Canadian provinces. Trudeau got a hella lot further than I did!

So, this will likely linger for quite a while
