Tesla's lower-priced Model 3 to start production Friday

Tesla's first lower-priced Model 3 will come off the assembly line Friday, two weeks early, CEO Elon Musk announced Monday.

"Model 3 passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. Expecting to complete SN1 on Friday," Musk wrote on Twitter, referring to the first car as "serial number 1."

The production of the electric car aimed at the broader market -- with a price of $35,000 -- is expected to ramp up quickly, Musk said, with 100 in August and 1,500 or more in September.

"Handover party for first 30 customer Model 3's on the 28th! Production grows exponentially," Musk tweeted.

The cost of batteries has dropped significantly since Tesla first released the Roadster in 2008. The cost of R&D and getting an auto factory running was also pretty high.

Those high costs dictated that they target a higher end market first until prices dropped and start up costs were amortized. Only after that, could they go for a more mass market car.

So since you are clearly the smartest one in the room when it comes to alternatively powered vehicles, and you have spent "thousands" of hours reading about electric cars, no doubt you have you own patented technologies and designs. Would you care to share them with us? Maybe even a picture of one of your prototypes? How close are you to production? Does your design incorporate a flux capacitor and hover technology?
