Stephen Hawking: Trumps Action Could Push The Earth Over The Brink

Source: TPM

By Nicole Lafond Published July 3, 2017 12:11 pm

Global warming is nearly irreversible, according to Cambridge professor and world-renowned scientist Stephen Hawking, who spoke to BBC News about climate change and President Donald Trump this past weekend.

“We are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump’s action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of two hundred and fifty degrees, and raining sulphuric acid,” he said.

He said that by pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement to reduce CO2 emissions, Trump is causing “avoidable environmental damage to our beautiful planet, endangering the natural world, for us and for our children.”.....................

“Climate change is one of the great dangers we face and it’s one we can prevent if we act now,” he said.......................

Trump will have a field day mocking his disabilities and scorning his talents.

And Trump will be unmoved in his disregard for anything that doesn't contribute to his short-term profit.

At least, I seriously doubt there is.

'Cause if anyone ever deserved a God smack, Trump the anti-scientist and the greedy fossil fuel industry would be at the head of the list.

It should be in the news every single day until the administration is forced to reverse this dangerous decision.

I am having doubts about this man. He wrote about possible invasions from other intelligent life in our universe. OK, some intelligent life spends tons of money and time finding life in another planet. Rather than study the inhabitants they kill them. How likely is that? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/27/stephen-hawking-light-years-dangerous-aliens

Mankind's Actions Have Pushed The Earth Over The Brink
by The Jackalope, Published July 5, 2017

Global warming is irreversible, according to internet denizen and pessimistic scribbler The Jackalope, who ranted on an obscure web site about climate change and President Donald Trump this past weekend.

“We are well past the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible, and have been for decades. As egregious as they may be, Trump’s actions will make no difference one way or the other to the possibility that Earth may become like Venus, with a temperature of two hundred and fifty degrees, and raining sulphuric acid,” he said.

He said that continuing global technological development and its attendant CO2 emissions have caused “unavoidable environmental damage to our beautiful planet, endangering the natural world, for us and for our children, as well as for many - perhaps most - other living species.”

“Climate change is merely one of the great dangers we face as a consequence of our huge population and outrageous techno-economic growth, but unfortunately is not one we could have prevented due to modern industrial society's inability to accept the concept of limits,” he said.

There, I fixed it. Despite his towering intellect in the field of physics, Hawking has some ginormous blind spots when it comes to the reality of the human situation.
