Russia blocks UN statement calling for N. Korea sanctions

Source: Yahoo News

AFP July 6, 2017

United Nations (United States) (AFP) - Russia on Thursday blocked a UN Security Council statement calling for "significant measures" in response to North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The United States had circulated the statement for adoption by the 15-member council after announcing plans for a new sanctions resolution, but Russia raised objections, UN diplomats said.

The draft statement recalled that the council had agreed to take "further significant measures" in the event of another nuclear test or missile launch and that the top UN body would "begin to work immediately on such measures."

Russia blocked the measure, arguing that it had not been verified that the launch involved an intercontinental missile, said a council diplomat. The United States and the United Nations have said the Hwasong-14 launched on Tuesday was of intercontinental range.

N Korea with their missile program as a distraction to the US and the rest of the world?

Wonder how Drumpf will react to his master basically saying "he's full of shit" in his assement of N. Korea's missile firing. Will he even have the nerve to address this at all? My guess is no. He will spend his time fawning over Putin and making like Russia is America's BFF as a pretense for returning those properties used to spy on us. Russia will agree to a No Fly Zone, which he will project as a win, and will want to give something back to them in return. Maybe he wants Russia to have the properties back before Mueller gets his investigators out there?

Putin and trump will have their meeting. Putin will allow the sanctions to be passed in return for loosening sanctions on Russia. I was just listening to... someone on Maddow say that if we drop the russian sanctions without getting something in return then its a big victory for russia. This would give them a bargaining chip which costs them nothing and would make trump look stronger.

At least that is what id expect if there were any sanity left in politics.
