Protesters Occupy Portman's Cincinnati office, refuse to leave

Source: Cincinnati Enquirer

A small group of protesters took over U.S. Sen. Rob Portman's downtown Cincinnati office late Thursday afternoon and has refused to leave.

[...snip...]

The protest, part of an effort to convince Portman to oppose the Republican health care bill, is peaceful and police have not been called. It has continued into Thursday night despite the office being closed.

The exact number of protesters is uncertain, but building officials said it was less than a dozen. Several protesters stood outside the high-rise Scripps Center on Walnut Street on Thursday afternoon, before some went inside the building and took the elevator to Portman's 34th-floor office.

"Rob welcomes input from all 11.5 million Ohioans," said Emily Benavides, Portman's spokeswoman. "They are all welcome to come to our offices to discuss any topic. He's currently hearing from constituents on both sides of the health care debate and will continue to be an independent voice for Ohio as the discussions continue in Washington."

Nothing more of value in the article. Comments include statement from someone claiming to be among the protesters. She indicates the police asked them to leave, they refused, and the police left. Separately, Portman's office has been taking a looser attitude towards protesters, allegedly requesting that Capitol Police NOT remove protesters from their Washington office a few weeks ago. We'll see how long "Occupy Cincinnati" goes on before Robbie gets tired of being called out.
