Bernie Sanders returns to Iowa to water the grassroots

Source: CNN

By Gregory Krieg,

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)The last time Sen. Bernie Sanders was in Iowa, there was an election to win. It was November 2016 and Sanders was barnstorming Hawkeye State college towns, trying in vain to drum up support for Hillary Clinton.

He returned on Saturday under slightly different circumstances. President Donald Trump is finishing his sixth month in office and Senate Republicans are hammering away at an Obamacare overhaul that could cause more than 20 million people to lose insurance over the next 10 years. The campaign continues, but this time around it turns on health care -- beating back the Senate GOP bill while building up support for the single-payer plan Sanders will likely introduce in August.

Making the first of two scheduled summer visits here, the state that will play host to the first-in-the-nation caucuses of a still far-off presidential campaign season, Sanders kept up his broadsides against the Republican health care overhaul, calling it the most "anti-working class legislation in the history of the country." He named and tried to shame both of his Senate colleagues from Iowa, pleading with the Republicans repeatedly to reject the bill.

"I say to Sen. Grassley and Sen. Ernst, please, please take a hard look at what this disastrous legislation will do to the people of Iowa and the people of America," the Vermont senator said. "I beg of them: please vote 'no' on this legislation."

I think Sen. Sanders would lose the primary but no matter who won,we would lose the General...I hope he can consider the millions
who would die if he helps elect a GOP president in 20.

9. Senator Sanders needs to get back

to taking care of the people of his state and we need to get a young(ish), viable candidate in the wings. A candidate with common sense, principle and integrity. Not saying Senator Sanders doesn't possess these attributes nor that he doesn't deserve a place on stage to the chairs left or right of the main Democratic Party lectern just not center stage anymore, to those who are still rabid Sanders acolytes.

Mark my words, a true POTUS, Barack Obama, who created ACA, because of his brown skin has been deemed by the trumpists and the ryan-mconnell group not to be worthy of his place in history and they will continue to attack the EA's of our recently past POTUS and his legacy unremittingly.

RACIST RW White ameriKKKa has shown it's true face to the world. A man of color is having all of his attempts to make america all inclusive for every citizen is still under unprecedented RW racist attack as he was for 8 years as POTUS by those mentioned above. Any thinking, rational and sane american will know that President Obama tried to do for all americans what the Party of the rich is trying to undo and that is deny inclusivity, for brown skinned people especially, women, hard working and decent immigrants and take viable health care from many millions of americans and replace it with a 'plan' that will enrich the already greedy rich and and ensure the death and suffering of many millions of working poor in america. Party before people is their greedy creed.

Let's play down Senator Sanders and just get someone on base for the upcoming midterms and general....hell all we're doing and have done is strike out. Proven by the bannon crowd stinking up the hallways of 1600, and a RW Congress, complete.

Iowa and New Hampshire need to lose their prime spots on the primary calendar... Both states are just too far removed from being a realistic cross-section of America...
