Energy Secretary Rick Perry thought he was talking about cyberhacking and a biofuel breakthrough in a call with Ukraine Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman. Alas, the 22-minute phone call was actually conducted with Russian pranksters.
Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov, who are described as the "Jerky Boys of Russia," have conducted similar prank calls with U.S. Senator John McCain and singer Elton John. They arranged the call with Perry last week, just a few weeks after he had met with Ukraines president, Petro Poroshenko, and his delegation.
In it they pitched Perry on a new fuel made from alcohol and manure and discussed President Donald Trumps decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, according to a recording posted online.

(19,201 posts)or anyone on his staff (if he even has a staff) checked to make sure this was going to be a legitimate conversation with the people he THOUGHT he was talking to?
Dealing with the Trump administration is like dealing with a group of third graders. Very mean spirited, extremely ignorant, totally disorganized third graders.

(9,426 posts)ONE person in this administration who is intelligent, respected, not an arse kisser? They are all from the very bottom of the barrel. Decent people would not "work" for a raving lunatic. No wonder tRump keeps family members close, to protect him and tell him how wonderful he is. Not a truly SMART one in the entire group.

(9,808 posts)Extremely intelligent, very well respected in military circles, not an ass kisser -- probably took the job because he felt it was his duty to serve, moderate and protect the DoD and employees.
But I don't expect him to survive with reputation intact.
