The Latest: Alabama lawmaker makes offer to Sessions

Source: AP News

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions (all times local):

4 p.m.

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks is offering to withdraw from a GOP Senate primary if all other Republican candidates also agree to withdraw, paving the way for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to be the party’s Senate nominee this fall.

Brooks is a Sessions ally and says he cannot remain silent about the treatment Sessions is receiving from President Donald Trump.

Trump has scorned Sessions, a former Alabama senator, as “very weak” and has refused to say whether he’ll fire the nation’s top law enforcement officer.

Brooks says he supports Trump’s policies, but believes the president’s “public waterboarding of one of the greatest people Alabama has ever produced is inappropriate and insulting to the people of Alabama.”

Load up Congress with Republicans who have a gnawing grudge against Trump!

"Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Not much of an offer. You can't go home again and all that.

Hang in there Beauregard. Eventually you'll cause Drumpf to have a stroke. I don't think Pense has the same exposure in the Russian scandal as Donnie Two Scoops does.

Go Mueller!

Richard Shelby has been a US Senator from Alabama since 1987.
Sessions was elected in 1996 and began serving in 97

Because people who want federal appointments generally have to wait until their party wins the presidency. In this case their party's president is suffering from unprecedented incompetence and mental illness and is very difficult to work for.

As Dipshit makes more enemies I hope they eventually organize against him and throw him under the bus. You know a lot of the smarter ones are thinking about it.

What if Roy Moore refuses to step aside? (I truly believe he would sell his daughters into slavery for that Senate seat)
Can Sessions beat Moore?
What if Trump campaigns for Moore?
What if Trump campaigns for Moore, but Sessions still wins?

This could be quite an entertaining spectacle!

...even if they hate Trump, they love their Jeffy-boy.

If he's getting fired anyway, why not go back to the Senate?
He'll have a bone to pick with Cheeto if he does go back.

Don't republicans consider waterboarding a wussy little inconvenience; no big deal?

Little wuss Sessions deserves sympathy and special treatment?

Another jaw-dropper. And apparently Drumpf won Alabama by the largest margin since Nixon/McGovern.

He can keep on dissing his Alabama voters and see how far that gets him.
