RNC Tells Staff To Preserve All Documents Related To 2016 Campaign

Source: BuzzFeed News

Republican National Committee employees have been asked to preserve all documents related to last year’s presidential campaign — a step RNC lawyers describe as precautionary, but necessary, as investigations continue into Russia’s meddling in the election.

“Given the important role that the RNC plays in national elections and the potentially expansive scope of the inquiries and investigations, it is possible that we will be contacted with requests for information,” reads a July 28 memo to staff from the RNC counsel’s office.

"Therefore, we must preserve all documents potentially relevant to these matters until they are resolved or until we are informed by all necessary parties that preservation is no longer necessary."

BuzzFeed News obtained a copy of the memo, which orders employees not to “delete, destroy, modify, or remove from your paper files, laptop computer, desktop computer, tablet, mobile device, e-mail, or any storage system or device, any documents, records, or other materials that relate to the 2016 presidential election or that may relate to any investigation concerning the election.” An RNC source confirmed the memo’s authenticity Monday morning.

We obviously can't trust the Rethugs to preserve the pertinent documents - even those specifically requested.

The NSA will therefore have to step up o the plate and reveal them. But will they?

Was that they have been shredding from day one. And taking the time to make sure there is nothing left incriminating. Or even forging replacement documents. If there is any discrepancy, as others have suggested with anything another agency has, they will be ready with a comeback of it is the others that have forged documents as part of the persecution of dear leader.

My only hope is that when the dust finally settles, we can know the true extent of the treason involved - and how many prominent Rethugs it involves.

The ONLY reason that the RNC circulated this kind of memo is that the F.B.I. or Mueller's team demanded same in letter to the senior RNC staff!

I'd bet a huge amount of cash on this being EXACTLY the unstated background!

He's been fined 22 times for destroying documents after he receives a subpoena advising him that no documents should be destroyed. Is there any crime he won't commit?

I thought it was a given that they are separate from the rest of the government. And is the CIA holding any info too? We can't trust anyone with not deleting info so how do we get them to give it to Mueller?

He'll fire Mueller and then we're back at square one.

We need (no, we MUST) have a separate, independent investigation but the Repub in congress will never OK the bill until they are fed up with the fake prez.

Maybe there's a slow realization that Orange T-wrecks is gleefully dragging the lot of them into the political abyss, it is not going to end well, and the only lifeboat left may possibly have a few seats if there is regret for the harm inflicted on the country backed up by action to address the problem.

Of course "after the fact CYA" is still more likely
