Centrist lawmakers plot bipartisan health care stabilization bill

Source: Politico

A coalition of roughly 40 House Republicans and Democrats plan to unveil a slate of Obamacare fixes Monday they hope will gain traction after the Senate’s effort to repeal the law imploded.

The Problem Solvers caucus, led by Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) and Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), is fronting the effort to stabilize the ACA markets, according to multiple sources. But other centrist members, including Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), and several other lawmakers from the New Democrat Coalition and the GOP’s moderate Tuesday Group are also involved.

Their plan focuses on immediately stabilizing the insurance market and then pushing for Obamacare changes that have received bipartisan backing in the past.

The most significant proposal is funding for Obamacare’s cost-sharing subsidies. Insurers rely on these payments – estimated to be $7 billion this year — to reduce out-of-pocket costs for their poorest Obamacare customers.

Now the Repugnants like these guys are jumping overboard from the SS Donald Duck and swimming like hell to avoid getting dragged down as it sinks.

Economically Trump is slightly to the left of Hillary, but much more authoritarian.

That being said, I also suspect that Trump is more concerned about appearing to score a big win than he is about the actual substance of any policy.

Let's get this fixed before the whole thing collapses (via GOP sabotage) and millions of people find themselves without coverage.

We can always evolve into single-payer over time, with a gradual increase of Medicaid. That seems like the most painless path.

May also save alot of repukes asses with their constituents. Fix obamacare , stabilize ins. markets and then move toward single payer. Win win for both sides. I hope enough republicans get on board.

enough of the remaining moderate Repugnants on board.
By that I mean that if we have a single payer system then you should not be allowed to sue someone for outrageous amounts if you are hurt in an accident since your medical will already be covered.
I could see suing for lost wages of course or being allowed to sue if you were harmed deliberately or because a company did something they should not have like used inferior material to build say a safety seat and it caused someone harm but otherwise lawsuits for things like whiplash would almost dry up since there would be no profit in it.
