Treasury inspector general to review Mnuchins flight to Fort Knox

The U.S. Treasurys Office of Inspector General is reviewing the flight taken by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and his wife, Louise Linton, last week to Louisville and Fort Knox, Ky., following criticism of their use of a government plane on a trip that involved viewing the solar eclipse.
We are reviewing the circumstances of the Secretarys August 21 flight . . . to determine whether all applicable travel, ethics, and appropriation laws and policies were observed, counsel Rich Delmar wrote in a statement to The Washington Post late Thursday.
When our review is complete, we will advise the appropriate officials, in accordance with the Inspector General Act and established procedures, Delmar added.
The trip faced a torrent of criticism last week after Linton posted a photo to Instagram showing her descending from the steps of a government jet while clad in high-fashion designer labels, which she individually named. When one woman questioned her, Linton fired back that the woman had less money than her and was adorably out of touch.

(18,628 posts)...they went to look at the gold. I have a feeling Mrs Mnuchin got lucky that night.
You know, even though we haven't heard about it, Trump has already been there. Where's 007 now that we need him?

(21,627 posts)It was said that in those countries part of the problem was that every time the dictator decided to dip into the Central Bank, everyone in the chain of command joined in.
If the boss withdrew, say, $1 million, the finance minister and the central bank head would take another million between them, and other officials, another million between them.
Thus every time the dictator stole a million, three million left the bank.
I never thought I'd live to see the day the same would go on in the U.S. (although Dubya's regime came close).
