Who does that sh*t?: Twitter cant believe Trump told a shelter full of Harvey victims to Have a

On Saturday afternoon, President Donald Trump made his second trip to Houston, TX in a week, perhaps hoping for a do over on his first visit, at which his performance was so desultory and lackluster that it was entirely overshadowed by his wifes choice of shoes for the outing.
On his second visit, Trump touched actual Texas children, handed out styrofoam containers of food but not without getting in a dig at the media and did his best to play the role of a strong and competent leader who wouldnt rack up a perfect score on the Are You a Sociopath? test.
And it would have worked, too, if he hadnt stopped on the way out the door to tell everyone huddled in the shelter with the few meager belongings they have that arent soaked in mud, poop and toxic chemicals to Have a good time.

(5,730 posts)They change tactics. They are PROUD cheaters. They think of it as self defence. I think we may have to get used to the scumbag, which, in his case, is elevating my real opinion, being the Prez. It's day 227 or something.
Like most here, I have written letters, called, marched, begged for votes, raised money for Senate campaigns (we got 2, TG ), given all the money I could, but the vapid liar, p grabber is still Prez.

That's how all trumpers think not that people just want to be in thier home with thier own stuff instead of landing in a shelter needing a handout .

(9,776 posts)Never thought I'd see the day in my lifetime, after all the progress we've made toward people trying to be just a bit more decent. Which has caused this backlash and desire by a bunch of creeps to have one of their own in the White House so they can pretend it's OK to be selfish, bigoted jerks. So depressing.

(183,089 posts)Almost everyone Ive talked to says, Were going to move to Houston. What Im hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.
And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this, this is working very well for them.

(1,540 posts)No one seems to have brought this up yet...but this particular comment very much echoes Barbara Bush's comments during the Katrina evacuation about the mega center in Houston that in thousands.
There is a certain base cluelessness that only those born rich can have. They can look on these poor unfortunates and think that this is a great result.
As President Bush battled criticism over the response to Hurricane Katrina, his mother declared it a success for evacuees who "were underprivileged anyway," saying on Monday that many of the poor people she had seen while touring a Houston relocation site were faring better than before the storm hit.
"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas," Barbara Bush said in an interview on Monday with the radio program "Marketplace." "Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality."
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway," she said, "so this is working very well for them." (This is clipped from the New York Times article from September 7, 2005)
It is not so much cruelty or heartlessness so much as the inability to relate because of a total lack of having experienced any sort of deprivation in their lives.
As Nick from The Great Gatsby said--the rich are not like you or me.

Scene of a traffic accident with dead and injured
Hospices
Bankruptcy proceedings of foreclosed newly homeless
Visits to Darfur or drought-stricken parts of Ethiopia
Addressing Pacific Islanders or coastal Inuit whose homes just slipped beneath the water permanently
The poisoned of Houston when he goes back there in ten days.
Addressing friends, relatives and immediate family of people who had just perished in an airline crash
and countless others, no doubt.

I guess he didn't know that ice turns into much needed water. I'm surprised more wasn't made of his answer, because I was outraged that he thought it was one big party down there.
