Former vice president Joe Biden on Friday urged activists to demand college authorities step up to uphold protections for sexual assault survivors, a day after Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced she would change the way schools investigate and resolve complaints of sexual violence on campus.
This administration does not speak for the American people on this issue, Biden said on a call, according to BuzzFeed News.
He urged activists to demand of your college president, your provost, your deans demand that they step up.
I know many of you are survivors, I know how you might feel betrayed today, Biden said, according to the report. Your governments let you down. Well, I want you to know that not only I stand with you but the majority of the American people stand with you. I believe you.

I didn't see anyone worried about that as being much other than cultural anxiety, let alone a referendum on Romney's policies.

(1,723 posts)Sexual assault is about power. DeVos and her ilk are about power. So, of course, they strengthen the position of the abusers and perpetrators. DeVos and her comrades are all about money and power. Of course, she would want to make life easier for the self centered, spoiled rich kids who take advantage of women, also called assault, rape, etc.
Her brother runs a company of hired killers, also called mercenaries. As far as I am concerned, he would profile as a potential perpetrator, especially as a college kid. Strictly my impression of his type.
Good for Joe Biden for pushing back. We all should.
