McConnell: New ObamaCare repeal bill has 'great deal of support'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that the most recent bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare is "intriguing" as his caucus mulls bringing it up for a vote next week.

"It's an intriguing idea and one that has a great deal of support. As we continue to discuss that legislation, I want to thank Senator Graham and Senator Cassidy for all of their hard work," McConnell said from the Senate floor.

McConnell's comments mark the first time he's publicly weighed in this week on the bill, which is gaining momentum as Republicans face an end-of-the-month deadline to repeal ObamaCare with a simple majority.

The bill from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) would end funding for Medicaid’s expansion and the health care law’s subsidies that help people buy insurance. In their place, block grants would be given to states.

I'm sorry to say, but I agree with you. I think this is going to be the end of the road for this healthcare law. Not that its perfect, but seems like they repugs are looking to shove it in the states laps. If you are from a democratic state, then you may be ok, too bad right wingers from right winger states...you are getting fucked very hard, but I get the sense that they don't give a shit. They are just out for Fuckump and thats what they want. 2018 is going to be a very important election, and I think this jump talking about Medicare for all ids going to blow up in the democrats faces....

I dont believe we will ever get medicare for all. I also dont believe we will get single payer. This country is too divided by ideology to do that. We may be in the majority of all three sections of Govt at one time, but the insurance cartel is way too big to fail simular to the banks, investment companies and the govt itself. Too bad they came up with a deal to fund the govt, because that would really be a strong hold over the Senate if the democrats came out against funding the govt, along with the conservatives....

...drops his Medicare-for all thing that has ZERO chance of being law on the same day the Graham-Cassidy horror drops, which actually lets it quietly gain some momentum.

I don't care if he wants to drop his never going to happen bill for publicity, or to energize his base, or his ego, or whatever reason he did it, but he could have had the common decency and sense God gave a doorstop to wait until after Sept. 30 when Trumpcare would be procedurally officially dead.

I have family that will be directly affected by this legislative monstrosity to the point where it may in fact kill them. This thing was given days to fester while Sanders patted himself on the back.

His timing was Just. Plain. STUPID.

And I'm not going to not vent and say so when I now have family endangered AGAIN by this mess just to save your feelings because you think Bernie Sanders can do no wrong.

Not only was his timing lousy for that reason alone, but he gives the likes of Tom Cotton ammunition to go on the air and say, "See? Even Bernie knows the ACA doesn't work."

50 votes or 47? I think this goes down to defeat - but if it passes it's just going to make more enemies for the GOP. Some will suffer and some will die - so America is supposed to thank the republicans for taking their health care and their loved ones away? I don't see this helping th GOP in the long run.
