Caucus Vote Counter Says Romney Mistakenly Given 20 Votes
Source: KCCI-TV
Caucus night was chaotic in many places, with hundreds of voters, candidates showing up and the throngs of media who followed. The world's eyes were on Iowa. But in the quiet town of Moulton, Appanoose County, a caucus of 50 people may just blow up the results.
Edward True, 28, of Moulton, said he helped count the votes and jotted the results down on a piece of paper to post to his Facebook page. He said when he checked to make sure the Republican Party of Iowa got the count right, he said he was shocked to find they hadn't.
... True said at his 53-person caucus at the Garrett Memorial Library, Romney received two votes. According to the Iowa Republican Party's website, True's precinct cast 22 votes for Romney.
"This is huge," True said. "It essentially changes who won."

Paul Supporter Alleges Inaccurate GOP Results Mean Santorum, Not Romney, Winner of Iowa Caucus
Transparent count process may have revealed reporting error...
Thanks to the transparent, open counting process at Tuesday's night's Iowa GOP Caucuses, and a Ron Paul supporter who was paying close attention to the results, we may now be learning that Rick Santorum, not Mitt Romney, actually won

(7 posts)I am a caucus chairman in Iowa and not only are the votes counted by the Secretary and witnessed by people such as the caucus reporter, representatives of whichever candidates' campaigns are present and sometimes even volunteers and the chairman/woman themselves. After all votes have been verified and counted they are then recorded on form a signed and dated w/time of vote by both the Secretary and Caucus Chairman. They are then turned into that county's headquarters.
This should be an issue that is both easily (and quickly) confirmed or denied between the headquarters and caucus secretary/chair.

Un frickin beleivable. To me, it really don't matter as to the outcome. My biggest concern is the accountability. Especially with something this small. Gee, can't wait til November.

(37,449 posts)actually whether your joking or not , this would be closer to election fraud. Since the 2 votes were counted. 20 people didn't come in and vote out of thin air. thereby it's election fraud. and it became election fraud if this really is true and the Republicans are resisting...
albeit why? Lutherans probably won't vote for a catholic (depending on the synod) why would they vote for a Catholic if the pope is the anti christ? (at least they believe that) I would consider myself WELS.... and I still don't believe that X_X

Romney paid for his win, fair and square, and (R) party leaders are going to see that he gets it, no matter how many new votes they have to create out of thin air.

That's exactly how they run their party and please their contributors and cronies and make sure that the vast wealth of America is gravitationally dumped directly into their own pockets.

Will make Iowa look foolish? Well then maybe people had better be more careful in the future about the numbers they post. This wasn't the only county with discrepancies. The discrepancy from my county won't affect who wins, but still needs to be addressed.

Sheila, Was their a discrepancy between what your precinct reported--and what the Central Republican Office had in their final vote totals?

Sheila Hoch · Chariton, Iowa
Angela Hagerty I dont have all the precinct totals but did photograph the final tally sheet for the county. We had 58 votes for Ron Paul while the official report said 48. Also had 10 more votes for Gingrich than were officially reported.

Sheila, I hope you pursue those discrepancies as Edward True has. The more we allow the bar to be moved the smaller our voice becomes to those in charge, regardless of the level of the office county, state or federal and the less creditability we have.
