President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump moved their personal email accounts to computers run by the Trump Organization as public scrutiny intensified over their use of private emails to conduct White House business, internet registration records show.
The move, made just days after Kushners use of a personal email account first became public, came shortly after special counsel Robert Mueller asked the White House to turn over records related to his investigation of Russia's interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with Trump associates. It also more closely intertwines President Trumps administration with his constellation of private businesses.
Kushner, who is a senior adviser to the president, first faced scrutiny for his private email use on Sept. 24, when his lawyer confirmed that he had occasionally used a personal email account to communicate with other White House officials. Kushner's contacts with Russians during the presidential campaign have drawn the attention of federal investigators.
According to internet registration records reviewed by USA TODAY and cybersecurity researchers, Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump, who is also a senior adviser, switched the location of their email accounts to a server operated by the Trump Organization on either Sept. 26 or 27, as attention from the media and lawmakers intensified.

Kushners lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said in a statement last week that Kushner had taken steps to preserve work-related emails from his personal account by forwarding copies to his White House email account.

Hopefully they'll be able to get everything...

(28,188 posts)When you are an executive of a corporation and use that to protect yourself from malpractice, and then blend your private and business life, you pierce that corporate veil and could lose that protection from civil lawsuits when you do something wrong.
I won't go into the details, but this person was colluding with a real estate firm to falsely inspect properties, giving them a green light when there were significant structural issues. He was a structural engineer, which my brother hired as such, but when he furnished his report, he did so as a home inspector--which has a lower threshold of knowledge. A man cannot wear two hats. You cannot have the knowledge of a structural engineer, and then dumb down a report and pretend structural issues are not in your realm of knowledge. However, what this guy did was accidentally merge his corporate structural engineering firm with his personal home inspection service.
By doing so, my brother was able to go after the firm, which the guy quickly dissolved, and also via a personal civil damages suit.

What these criminal types might have done was not only to open up the Trump servers to a forensic audit, to see exactly what is on those servers, and what other email accounts could be tied to Russia, but it could also cause them to lose any corporate shielding.
