Puerto Rico city Trump visited is still without power

Source: The Hill

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 10/11/17 10:17 AM EDT

The Puerto Rican city that President Trump visited last week in the wake of Hurricane Maria is still mostly without power, according to BuzzFeed.

“There’s no electricity, and water has arrived at two or three neighborhoods, but very few,” Roberto Garcia, assistant to the mayor of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico told the publication in comments published on Wednesday.

Puerto Rico's government said on Tuesday that about 10 percent of the islands 3.4 million U.S. citizens are currently without electricity. The news comes a week after the president and the first lady visited the city, where they handed out necessities such as food and flashlights.

“Flashlights, you don’t need ’em anymore. You don’t need ’em anymore,” the president said, while handing them out. It is also where Trump tossed paper towels into the crowd of people gathered around him.

I can't believe it! Had to google this morning to find any kind of status reports. But we're still covering the NFL, the World Cup, Harvey Weinstein. WTF is wrong with this country?

2. Only 10% still without power - that doesn't match up with what I've heard via ham radio

Just 2 or 3 days ago I listened in on a couple of conversations indicating that there were still vast areas outside still without power. I know that there will be discrepancies with statistics such as this, but it sounds like someone is being overly optimistic with their numbers.

3. Does not match up with DonViejo's other thread....the 90% is flipped in that one

Assuming that 10.60% is the number used in both threads, we just need to figure out what it means.

Hard to say how accurate that is of course since that's just from the perspective of a few people, but it's pretty certain that there's a long way to go in restoring basic services to the people of Puerto Rico.

a few were smiling. Probably because the whole thing was so bizarre. Most looked glum. And that bit that Drumpf said about everyone cheering and happy was bullshit.

10. Because people are by nature hopeful and they hoped a presidential visit meant help was on the way
