Puerto Rico gov: We are 'requesting the support that any of our fellow citizens would receive'

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 10/12/17 11:18 AM EDT

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello responded on Thursday to President Trump's warning that federal emergency workers will not stay on the island "forever," saying that the U.S. territory's residents are only asking for the same assistance that other Americans would receive.

The remark came after Trump tweeted Thursday that the federal government would not keep FEMA workers and troops on the island indefinitely.

"We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!" Trump wrote.

He also tweeted that Congress would ultimately decide how much money to set aside for Puerto Rico's recovery.

to big donors -- as promised, and his personality disorder makes him a natural, if difficult to control, tool for service of the wealthy.

Of course racial and ethic bias is a big part of this, which we could only wish was insanity instead of a common evil.

And then, there're probably the massive spite and vengeance trump is famous for when people don't give him the adoration he craves, or otherwise cross him. He also just arranged to destroy the ACA by himself, which will hurt those who voted for him badly, but, hey! Alabama Republicans elected the other guy. That's just one reason he's probably in the middle of one of the "rages" common to cluster B personality disordesr. The satisfaction he gets from hurting others is evidence that he is aware that they are being hurt, and by him.

So not psychotic. And that's a shame, because mere evil is too subjective and common to be considered obvious cause for removal from office but psychosis is an objectively diagnosable condition and is.

Trump saw him as a weakling, a patsy that he could walk all over without any blowback. That's exactly what Trump did, and the governor got played and the Americans in Puerto Rico got a few paper towels tossed at them.

Now the president is just going to walk away from his duty to protect our citizens in danger. Puerto Rico makes Trump look bad so he's done, he's taking his ball and going home.

If Puerto Rico is allowed to align itself with another nation, the U.S. will lose the 200 miles of territorial waters around it. But racism will win over pragmatism.

I hope that Puerto Rico prevails.

It could possibly vote on it's independence and if the people in P.R. chose to become a sovereign country, then it could ally itself with some other country. That 200 mile territorial water would be a big bargaining chip.

I'm only pointing out that Puerto Rico is more than a pretty island. Every nation on Earth is trying to amass resources. If trump screws around like he is, he could alienate the Puerto Ricans to the point they'd want to leave the U.S. They'd have options.

I hope that this disgusting humanitarian crisis pushes them toward statehood and voting rights on their island. And they don't forget who is trying to murder them.

Here is a link about a previous attempt to grant them statehood:
