Trump will scrap critical Obamacare subsidy

Source: Politico

President Donald Trump plans to cut subsidy payments to insurers in his most aggressive move yet to undermine Obamacare after months of unsuccessful repeal efforts on Capitol Hill, according to two sources.

The subsidies, which are worth an estimated $7 billion this year and are paid out in monthly installments, may stop almost immediately since Congress hasn’t appropriated funding for the program.

Scrapping the funding is likely to provide another jolt to the already fragile Obamacare markets. The impact may be cushioned by the fact that many insurers had priced next year's plans higher than they otherwise would have, fearing this decision. Others have already fled the Obamacare markets, which are set to begin open enrollment in Nov. 1 for the 2018 plan year.

Insurers rely on the subsidies to reduce out-of-pocket costs for low-income Obamacare customers. They’re still on the hook to provide the discounted rates to their members under the law, despite no longer receiving the federal funding.

Pence is just as vindictive and bloodthirsty as Donald with a religions twist that will make him even more focused on targeting LGBT+ Americans. And Ryan is an Ayn Rand follower who has lead the repeated repeal attempts of the ACA in the house and now the new tax reform bill.

What's more, both of them actually have half a brain so they might actually be able to work with the house and senate repugs to pass legislation.

Tell me where I'm wrong here.

The law didn't address certain problems so Obama compensated with executive orders, that are easily rescinded if an evil self-centered asshole takes over the white house - thus our current situation.

They made all kinds of side agreements, additions and subtractions just to get the bill through the senate.

It didn't matter because the slop would be cleaned up when the real bill was written in the Conference Committee.

Then Ted Kennedy died and Scott Brown won the seat taking away the 60'th vote.

So the only choice was for the House to pass the senate's version which was never supposed to be the final law.

Obama did his best cleaning up the mess with Executive Orders.

If the subsidies were in the legislation, the court would rule it couldn't be overturned. If it wasn't then that would indicate that the house and Senate screwed up by omitting it. Not sure which is true

has been directed to not enforce the penalty. Sorry, I can't remember where I read that. But if he hasn't implemented such a directive, he will.

I don't think dump has the policy knowledge to figure out on his own how to destroy the ACA, but you can bet that he has been supplied by e.g. the Heriturd Fuckdation with kochbots who have gone over the legislation with a fine-toothed comb to determine what to do to dismantle Obamacare. Then, all they have to do is funnel the money into tax cuts and they have achieved their ends.

We are living with the consequences of a coup last November.

Thanks to the subsidy paid for her. She had not had health insurance in some time so she went for a physical and because she had a dark mole on her back. She is very fair skinned and is a true redhead. Turned out to be melanoma, but caught fairly early. She had surgery and has been seen for follow ups ever since. In addition, she has other health issues that were misdiagnosed for years as COPD. She has been under the care of pulmonary doctors, too.

When I heard that tRump is yanking the subsidy payments, I felt a knot in the pit of my stomach. My friend’s daughter is the first person I thought about. Even if she doesn’t get kicked off of her insurance immediately, it will probably eventually run out. The stress they will feel worrying about this is just so unfair.

tRump will have the blood of every person who suffers as a result of his cruel actions. Out of pure spite, he has jeopardized the lives of millions. What a sick bastard he has turned out to be.

Karma has a sh*t load of revenge coming for him. May he be consumed by the heat of a thousand suns. I cannot wrap my head around the sickness that has control of his life to make him so cruel. But he is building up a debt he will never pay off if he had all the gold in Ft. Knox.

Fri Oct 13, 2017, 06:30 AM
Oct 2017
“Sadly, instead of working to lower health costs for Americans, it seems President Trump will singlehandedly hike Americans’ health premiums. It is a spiteful act of vast, pointless sabotage leveled at working families and the middle class in every corner of America. Make no mistake about it, Trump will try to blame the Affordable Care Act, but this will fall on his back and he will pay the price for it.

“President Trump has apparently decided to punish the American people for his inability to improve our health care system. Trumpcare collapsed because Americans overwhelmingly recognized the cruelty and higher costs it meant for them and their loved ones. Now, millions of hard-working American families will suffer just because President Trump wants them to.

“If these reports are true, the President is walking away from the good faith, bipartisan Alexander-Murray negotiations and risking the health care of millions of Americans.”
