[BREAKING: Europes foreign policy chief: Iran deal is working, and Trump has no power to cancel it]
BRUSSELS European leaders said Friday that President Trumps plan to strip White House backing from the Iran nuclear deal would weaken Washingtons ability to address dangers from both Tehran and North Korea.
The agreement a milestone achievement of coordination among the Obama administration and European capitals is the latest target for Trumps ire that strikes at U.S.-European cooperation and common policies.
Trump on Friday did not ask Congress to reimpose sanctions on Iran, leaving existing frameworks largely in place. That brought some relief to Europeans who view a full U.S. reversal on the accord as a nightmare scenario that could push the Islamic Republic toward nuclear weapons and disrupt attempts to bring North Korea to the negotiating table. But Trump did ask lawmakers to impose a range of conditions that would add new pressure on Iran to retreat on its ballistic missile program and curb its widening role across the Middle East that Washington views as destabilizing to the region and its allies.
Even as he stopped short of jettisoning the deal, Trumps demands still damaged American power by weakening Europes trust in its most important ally, policymakers said.

Trump can refuse to do his presidents job, refuse to pay attention to USA 'business' and make America weaker and more isolated.
The deal will go on without America. No wonder Trump went bankrupt, he's incompetent, unable to keep up with the presidents duties.

(6,390 posts)...we have no recognition of Iran.
...no trade.
...no ties.
...no fucks.
...no etc.
This has no impact. Iran already trades Euro's with Europe and Rubles with Russia. They have NO need of the financial system backed up by US Dollars. That's probably what's pissing Dump off...no matter what the fuck he does on Iran...he can't do shit to harm them. And if he tries...it will destabilize the mid-east to hell...and what happens when Russian S300 or S400 brings down our birds? Or what happens when Iraq goes right back to civil war over this?

Iran nuclear deal: Global powers stand by pact despite Trump threat
Global powers, including key US allies, have said they will stand by the Iran nuclear deal which US President Donald Trump has threatened to tear apart.
Mr Trump said on Friday that he would stop signing off on the agreement.
The UK, France and Germany responded that the pact was "in our shared national security interest". The EU said it was "not up to any single country to terminate" a "working" deal.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said the US was "more isolated than ever".
"Can a president annul a multilateral international treaty on his own?" he asked.
"Apparently he doesn't know that this agreement is not a bilateral agreement solely between Iran and the United States."

In a combative speech on Friday, Mr Trump called Iran a "fanatical regime" and said it had violated the terms of the deal. He accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism, and proposed new sanctions.
"We will not continue down a path whose predictable conclusion is more violence, more terror, and the very real threat of Iran's nuclear breakout," he said.
Media caption Trump: 'I can terminate US involvement in deal any time'
International observers say Iran has been in full compliance with the agreement.
