Kasich: US is 'weakening' post-WW2 alliances

Source: The Hill

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 10/15/17 11:22 AM EDT

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) warned on Sunday that the U.S. is walking away from international alliances and guidelines that were put in place in the wake of World War II as a means of preventing authoritarianism.

"One of the things I am concerned about is the drift that we are in right now in terms of America and the world," Kasich told NBC's Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press."

"There is an issue here where we're weakening the things that we put in place after World War II to keep the world safe and reflect our values. We can't afford to walk away, Chuck. Because if we walk away, this thing collapses. And who wins? The authoritarians. The Russians and the Chinese. Not good for our country, and not good for freedom," he said.

"There is a battle now. The Russians and the Chinese want authoritarian-type government, okay? And we're walking away from our allies on trade agreements, this Iran thing, we'll see how that turns out," he continued.

That's all this is. The kinder,, gentler, sexisit authoritarian. His slogan could be... "this time with a velvet glove."

An authoritarian who wants to control women's bodies, take healthcare away from children and and take away voting rights from the not whites, strip the federal government to shreds. He is just a better educated person that actually knows how the system works.

Historical Jesus

"Virtually all scholars who write on the subject agree that Jesus existed ...
and the only two events subject to "almost universal assent" are that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate.

Historical Jesus scholars typically contend that he was a Galilean Jew living in a time of messianic and apocalyptic expectations.
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, whose example he may have followed, and after John was executed, began his own preaching in Galilee for about one to three years prior to his execution."
............................

Hey, I'm Buddhist, but apparently there is some basis to a 'historical Jesus'. Just not what we've been told.
I read a book, the title of which I no longer remember, which put forth the theory that Christianity was 'invented' by (Saint) Paul after Jesus's death.

He is the lame duck governors of a slowly declining poorly run state in the Midwest. He hasn't been on the congressional. foreign affairs committee since 2001, there have been alot of changes since that time.

that got us there.

Oh, and that is some serious fucking soft touches with the "weakening" bullshit.

It is being blown up the fuck up, and after the world gave us a pass for 8 years of the imbecile from 2000 to 2008, our quadrupling down on jackassery with 45 has pretty much burnt out the good will the sacrifices our grandparents and their parents made in WWs 1 & 2.

15. Russia And China

The problem with them is that they are both run by authoritarian regimes. The Russian people and the Chinese people are not the problem; their anti-democratic governments are the problem. The Russian people and the Chinese people are oppressed by their own governments. Many of those people want freedom and democracy, but instead have dictatorship.

Just as we rebuilt Germany and Japan after WW II and made them allies and prosperous democracies, so we should have done with Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Instead, we left them to their own devices, and now they are run by an Authoritarian ex-KGB Officer and the super-rich Oligarchy. They have no democracy, and now Russia is an ongoing threat to freedom and global security.

The Russian people are terribly oppressed. I knew many Russians at my University, and they were all good people who just wanted freedom and life, like anyone else. Instead they have a dictatorship. If Russia and China were democracies, we would not be having these problems. Now Putin wants to weaken America by installing a dangerous and ignorant clown/demagogue, Trump. We need this anti-democratic tyrant out of power ASAP.

So, the Russian and Chinese people are not the problem. Their authoritarian governments are the problem. We need democracy in both these nations. We need to back anti-Putin forces. Trump is a Putin stooge and a threat to democracy everywhere, here and abroad. We need our democracy back. We need freedom and democracy for the Russian and Chinese people, and this will help protect our own freedom. Global Democracy Now! Say no to Tyrants like Trump and Putin!
