Univ. of Fla. estimates it will spend $600K on security for Spencer's speech

The University of Florida is estimating security for the planned speech Thursday by white nationalist leader Richard Spencer will cost the school about $600,000.

According to CBS News, more than 500 law enforcement officers have gone to the campus ahead of Spencer's speech, which is expected to spark protests on at the university.

The school is readying itself for the possibility of violence, according to CBS.

"We are hoping that this is going to be a non-event. But we are prepared to respond and handle this," Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell said. "When you get human beings together on different opinions and then you add emotions to it, you've got the recipe for a lot to go wrong."

...and the left falls for it every single time.

It goes like this:

1. Student organization decides to invite the most vile right wing asshole they can find, in the name of "dialog"
2. Publicize event widely
3. Left mobilizes to protest
3a (optional, depending on your tolerance for consipiracy theories). Right plants violent people amongst peaceful protestors
4. University is faced with a choice:
a. Shut down event, which is followed by right wing student groups making appearances on media about how the left hates free speech and can't handle "different" views
b. Spend a ton of money on security, which will antagonize protesters and lead to violence, resulting in right wing student groups making appearances on media about how the left hates free speech
5. Wait a month or so
6. Repeat step 1 in a new location

The only way to win is to not play.
