Nunes: Democrats Made Russians 'Successful' By Pursuing Dossier
Source: Talking Points Memo

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) on Thursday blamed Democrats for what he called successful Russian interference in the 2016 election, saying that the commotion created by Democrats over a dossier of information about President Donald Trump had played into the Russians hands.
What has allowed them to be successful in this sabotage of an election is that theyre trying to change public opinion, Nunes told Fox News Neil Cavuto, referring to Russia.
Nunes attempted to argue that revelations that Hillary Clinton and the DNC partly funded the research on Trump by former MI6 official Michael Steele could have biased the Congress and the intelligence communitys potential use of that information. (Republicans previously funded research about Trump.)
With all of this commotion, and with all of the nonsense that was put out, dont you think it would have been important for the Congress to know back in January, when we were first briefed on this Trump dossier, that it was actually paid for by the opposition party? Nunes asked.

(42,282 posts)After all, many of the details have been proven true and NONE proven false...and secondly, why, if Clinton and the DNC knew what the dossier said, didn't they USE it in October 2016?
Third question...just who has what part of you in what kind of a vice to make you act this way, Nunes?

And if she paid for it, why didn't she use it? The only answer that makes any sense is that she didn't know about the dossier before the election.

Devin Nutcase always spews nonsense that sounds like he's meth-addled. I can never trace the "logic" in it. I guess that's why deplorables are sucking it right up.

In other words, someone hired by someone hired by someone hired by the Clinton campaign talked to sources in Russia and got dirt that the campaign didnt use that could have undermined the Kremlins goal of electing Mr. Trump, ergo, Hillary colluded with Mr. Putin. For that, Mr. Fleischer earns undisputed Alternative Fact of the Week honors.

Gaslighting is a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, hoping to make them question their own memory, perception, and sanity. Using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying, it attempts to destabilize the target and delegitimize the target's belief.

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

(37,648 posts)This matters because:
Fusion GPS is the research group that hired as a subcontractor the former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. And it was Steele, working for Fusion GPS sometime after it hooked up with the Democrats, who compiled the now-famous dossier.
but also....

We gain nothing by not acknowledging facts. So the HRC campaign did fund it, but they didn't START the funding by that research group. That was apparently started by REPUBLICANS.

I thought after the last kerfuffle (singularly issuing subpoenas w/o any knowledge by the rest of the bi-partisan committee) we might have heard the last from this dunce. Ah, but since then news has appeared of a Mueller or FBI investigation into his corrupt acts. I venture that now he feels that he has nothing to lose and may earn a pardon from Trumpenfuehrer for his efforts here.

I don't give a rats ass who paid for this dossier and how much or even why...
What is relevant is it exists and we all acknowledge the dossier exists. And the contents of this dossier whether having been used (or not!) by any of the parties prior to the election or after - is accurate and tells the truth about Donald Trump, his campaign and the players involved in his election and why!
Who the fuck cares who paid and why etc....
What's relevant is what the dossier contains.....
THE TRUTH!!!!

(33,135 posts)They are attempting to try this thing in the court of public opinion. Working the refs, as they always do.
The Prosecution needs to keep strongly and repeatedly emphasizing that the Steele Dossier was a small part of a much wider investigation on a scandal which was recognized by at least seventeen domestic intelligence agencies and several allied foreign governments.
In fact, the only role for the Steele Dossier so far, was that the Special Prosecutor was confirming the information it contained. Which, apparently the investigators have been successfully doing.
Oh, and for you lurkers reading this... Even if the Russian Collusion is somehow discredited. There is ALWAYS the whole Obstruction issue.
