Christie: 'We've Heard Nothing' To Indicate Trump Is Under Investigation
Source: Talking Points Memo

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Sunday said he has heard nothing to indicate that President Donald Trump is a target of special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
I think the good news, from the Presidents perspective, is hes not under investigation, Christie said on CNNs State of the Union.
How do you know that the Presidents not under investigation? Jake Tapper pressed.
Well, the last news that weve received, Jake, publicly, is that the President was told hes not under investigation. Weve heard nothing to the contrary, Christie said. So Im making that statement off of the public information that weve already been given. Christie made the same claim on CBS Face the Nation, and, pressed to support his claim, said that no one has told Trump that he is under investigation.

Christie: Mueller has to be careful his integrity is 'unquestioned'
BY BRETT SAMUELS - 10/29/17 09:50 AM EDT
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Sunday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller must be careful to avoid any potential conflicts of interest amid reports that the first charges in his investigation have been filed.
I think he has to be very, very careful about making sure that the public believes he has no conflicts, and that his integrity is unquestioned, Christie told CNNs Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
I think its incumbent upon him to hold himself to the highest possible standard so people in this country can have absolute confidence in whatever conclusions he comes to in this investigation.
Christie added that he has not seen anything to indicate Mueller should step down, but said Mueller and his legal staff must constantly be monitoring for any conflicts.

CLAIM
Then-Secretary of State Clinton ordered then-FBI Director Robert Mueller to deliver highly enriched uranium to the Russians in a secret plane-side meeting in 2009.
WHAT'S TRUE
On behalf of the U.S. government, Robert Mueller delivered a sample of highly enriched uranium confiscated from smugglers in Georgia to Russian authorities for forensic examination in 2009.
WHAT'S FALSE
There was nothing nefarious in the transfer of the ten-gram sample, which was done at the request of Russian law enforcement and with the consent of the government of Georgia, whose agents had participated in its confiscation.

No prosecutor sends out press releases and/or holds press conferences during an investigation and trial.
Christie claiming no information from Muehler indicates lack of evidence is just wrong.

(9,670 posts)By the way, Chris, Trump has been made VERY aware of the fact that he is the center of an obstruction of justice investigation.
Who do these people think they're fooling? Over 60% of the population disapproves of Trump and even more disapprove of the hideous Republican Congress.
The voice of the people will not be muted.

(5,810 posts)All these people with connections to the tRump campaign being investigated and some indicted, but nothing to do with tRump himself? Anyone who believes that must like reading fairy tales at bedtime.
I fully expect tRump and his staff to go full on denial and distraction mode today and onward. They knew this day was coming and have been prepping for it by the tweets and claims of no collusion. tRump likes to come back to that talking point to convince his peeps that he is innocent of everything. When the investigation reveals his crimes, he hopes his minions believe him and not Mueller. Guess we will have to see how this plays out. And actually, what THEY think is not important but rather what a jury thinks. Interesting times we live in, eh? Living through history and knowing what we are seeing is historic makes it all the more compelling to watch unfold.

(3,426 posts)First he says I ,than he says we. Fact is he and Trump are all about collusion from the start. One or the other. That story Trump made up about the loss of momentum- Christie is that story, Trump just changed the name .
Why does the media give Christie the equivalent of a podium to voice his view ? Why is it they or it make his views seem relavent ?
At the end of the trial ,the bridgegate scandal, Christie made the statement as he saw himself in the free and clear-,there was no provable evidence showing he ordered the dirty deal.
Yes Christie lost his momentum ,he went direct drive into self distruct mode ,crashed and than burned, or so it seemed. It may be his tourch flamed out but he hasn't yet totally crashed out.
The question is, as he knew his political tourch was extinguished yet he still proceeded with his campaign for the republican nomination ,when actually did he throw in with Trump ?
It may be the thing Christie hasn't heard anything about is, is he too under investigation along with the rest of them.
Imagine if Christie were a guest on cnn live or fox or where ever and suddenly it comes down in a very fast flash,
Christie included in a series of sealed inditments.
Of course he hasn't heard anything yet.
And his grapevine lines have been severely cut.
Imagine that.
Fast and hard.
The bonanza.
