After First Mueller Charges, Senators Warn Of Trump Interference And Pardons

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ALICE OLLSTEIN Published OCTOBER 30, 2017 11:47 AM

When news broke Monday morning that at least three former Trump campaign associates have been criminally charged as a result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation, President Trump sounded off angrily on Twitter, leaving many nervous that Trump may attempt to fire Mueller or somehow meddle in the investigation going forward.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is currently investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and potential collusion with the Trump campaign, released a statement Monday morning calling on the Senate to act swiftly to protect the federal investigations from the President’s interference.

“It is imperative that Congress take action now to protect the independence of the Special Counsel, wherever or however high his investigation may lead,” Warner said. “Members of Congress, Republican and Democrat, must also make clear to the President that issuing pardons to any of his associates or to himself would be unacceptable, and result in immediate, bipartisan action by Congress.”

In his own statement Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer echoed Warner’s concerned and called for lawmakers to be on high alert and ready to act.

Nunes, Burr, Grassley, Ryan, McConnell, could it be???

Perhaps this is why Gowdy said he wants his Republican colleagues to give special counsel Robert Mueller a chance as he reportedly nears arresting people in his probe of Russian -

It's Mensch who has a mixed record but more than once had important scoops. And there are very interesting details. Lots of details.

https://patribotics.blog/2017/10/29/exclusive-mueller-has-dozens-of-sealed-indictments-including-on-donald-trump/

Donald Trump – indicted on RICO over the Felix Sater and Bayrock case, and on other charges which sources have requested we do not report. ... He is also under investigation for sexual abuse and human trafficking relating to Trump Models. ...

Mike Flynn – indicted for failing to register under FARA, the Foreign Agents’ Registration Act, as an agent of Turkey whilst National Security Advisor

While we are able to report that Special Counsel Mueller is holding dozens of sealed indictments, many of which were returned while James Comey was Director of the FBI, we cannot report with specificity who is indicted on what charge other than the two above, because sources were not specific. We have reported on the investigations suspects are facing, and these are listed below.

Listed as under investigation with lots of specifics as to areas:

Mike Pence
Paul Ryan
Rex Tillerson
Steve Mnuchin
Mike Flynn
Mike Flynn Jr
The Republican Party as a body is under investigation for RICO for accepting Russian money. The GOP itself is being considered to be a corrupt organization under the RICO statutes. Sources were firm that the GOP, as it is presently known, may no longer exist after this investigation and a new party of the right may have to form. Sources did not say if charges or indictments had been returned against the party however.

Donald J Trump Jr
Eric Trump
Donald J Trump Jr is on tape colluding with Russia in France before the election. He is being investigated for collusion with Russia over the meeting that was taped in Trump Tower.
(These are not intended to be exclusionary. We are aware of other offenses the Trump sons and their father are being investigated for and are withholding reporting at the request of sources).

Ivanka Trump
Brad Parscale, Jared Kushner, Pyotr Levashov, Michael Cohen and Boris Epshteyn (among several others)
Michael Cohen
Paul Manafort is under more additional investigations than we have time to list here, including FARA violations, money laundering, RICO, bribery, espionage, lying to the FBI, obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice. That list is not meant to be exhaustive.

Mitch McConnell
Jason Chaffetz
Devin Nunes
Steve Bannon
Julian Assange
Carter Page is under investigation for espionage. The tape, or recording, of Donald Trump agreeing to change sanctions policy for hacking help, which he took to Moscow, is in the hands of Bob Mueller. The first FISA application made in June 2016, which named Page, Manafort, Epshteyn and Trump, was made over their conversation with Sergei Kislyak in the Mayflower Hotel in which Trump agrees to do this. The FISA warrant application failed, sources speculated, because Trump may not have known at that time that he was being taped.

Jeff Sessions

We have no doubt that this list is not exhaustive.

Mueller doesn't really care if Trump gets impeached, that's not his end-game.

Mueller has been investigating criminal charges all along, not poliltical stuff. Cheeto's days are numbered whether an impeachment happens or not. There have been little whiffs and rumors about the RICO charges since even before the inauguration. Now it's beginning to look inevitable.

That is one of the things that was done to Nixon during Watergate to keep him from pardoning the plumbers. If Trump tried to he would lose in the first court he faced.

The way I understood the Nixon situation is that he had been floating an idea of pardoning his co-conspirators and himself. Obviously pardoning himself was likely a no go (and was never tested), as he was reminded soon before he resigned, but he could have pardoned the others prior to the impeachment investigation/hearings. Pardoning those guys without being able to pardon himself would have just caused him more trouble early on.
