ObamaCare signups surge in early days to set new record

A record number of people signed up for ObamaCare in the first few days of open enrollment this year compared to the same period in previous years, several sources close to the process told The Hill.
The surge in sign-ups, which was confirmed by an administration official, comes despite fears from Democrats that enrollment would fall off due to the Trump administration's cutbacks in outreach and advertising.
On the first day of enrollment alone, Nov. 1, one source close to the process told The Hill that more than 200,000 people selected a plan for 2018, compared to around 100,000 last year. More than 1 million people visited healthcare.gov that day, compared to around 750,000 last year, the source said.
It is still early in the process and it is unclear how the final sign-up numbers will come out. Sign-ups early in the enrollment season are often people renewing their coverage, not new enrollees.

(34,109 posts)the last time I have to do that!
I just wonder, now that I have it and it is on their site as ACTIVE, when they are going to stop calling, texting and emailing me. Last year it took them 4 months to realize I HAD my insurance. I got 2 calls today, a text and an email yesterday.

The ACA was wonderful until it was messed with. It is still better than what may be coming.

(23,099 posts)I can't cover my husband with insurance from my work insurance since I just retired and he's not working enough to qualify for insurance at his part time job. He went to the marketplace and is getting a plan with $1750 deductible and $1750 out of pocket max, primary care .oo, specialist $5, and generic drugs $5. The price is less than he'd be paying at work if they would routinely give him 25 hours and provides full coverage. We are very happy and surprised! Just hope orange assface doesn't find a way to fuck this up worse.
