Syria signs Paris Agreement - leaving US only country in the world to refuse climate change deal

Source: The Independent

Harry Cockburn 5 hours ago

Syria has signed the Paris climate agreement, leaving the US as the only country in the world not signed up to the framework to deal with greenhouse gas emissions.

When President Donald Trump announced he intended to pull the US out of the agreement, it initially meant America would join Nicaragua and Syria on a small list of countries who were not part of the deal.

In contrast to the Trump administration, Nicaragua had earlier refused to sign the accord because it believed the terms were not ambitious enough, and had called for more drastic action to tackle climate change. Meanwhile Syria was embroiled in war.

In October, Nicaragua signed up to the deal, saying it was “the only instrument we have” to deal with rising global temperatures.

this country down to sewer like depths, I wonder how long it will be before the scorn and contempt of the civilized world turn to complete revulsion. The lack of any moral component for good to any of our decisions, both domestically and on the world stage, since the ill fated election of trump has and deservedly should affect our standing in the world.

to make commitments to having NO country follow us in threatening to leave AND the two other countries outside the agreement deciding to join. Someone needs to tell Trump that absolutely NO country is now with him - none.

Because we're doing an exceptional job of going from being the leader of the free world to becoming an international pariah in the span of 10 months.

and everyone else. If republicans cannot find the moral courage to stop their dangerous lies, then they should just STFU and let the rest of us get on with dealing with reality.

9. This will be fairly high priority to repair, once the RePutins are deposed.

Absolute top priority though is repairing our election system top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top. The rest will come quite naturally after that.
