About 600,000 people signed up for ObamaCare plans in the first four days of enrollment, the Trump administration announced Thursday.
Sign-ups are running at a faster pace than at this time last year. In fact, about twice as many people signed up on the first day, Nov. 1, this year compared to last year.
There were about 150,000 sign-ups per day on average for the first four days this year, compared to 84,000 sign-ups per day for the first 12 days last year. There is no data for just the first four days of last year.
Still, the results have energized Democrats, who have been worried about low enrollment due to Trump administration cutbacks in outreach.

(4,483 posts)and I think it's absolutely brilliant. The magic equation: making fun of stupid people *and* encouraging them (successfully) to do the right thing against their will.
The means justifies the ends in this case, and it tickles me to death.

(7,517 posts)Just a dollar a month less but still, from being worried I wouldn't have insurance at all last November, to getting the same coverage at the same price has been a huge relief for me and millions of others I'm sure. We should keep promoting it since the POtuS won't.

(3,427 posts)I liked the plan I had this year. The premiums, while not cheap, were manageable, and the insurance actually paid for things that I didn't think it would. But next year the premium (after subsidies) will be increasing 20% (unlike my income), and the benefits are changing for the worse. So now I'll have to choose a cheaper plan with a very narrow provider network, which doesn't include my or my wife's doctors.
I blame a lot of it on the uncertainty caused by Trump and the Republicans, especially Trump's threats to end the cost-sharing subsidies.
But I'm glad that some people are still able to find suitable and affordable coverage.
