Mitch McConnell calls on Roy Moore to exit Alabama Senate race if these allegations are true

Source: The Washington Post

By Michael Scherer November 9 at 2:22 PM

A growing chorus of Senate Republicans including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have called on Senate candidate Roy Moore to withdraw from a special election in Alabama in the wake of allegations that the former judge initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl nearly four decades ago.

“If these allegations are true, he must step aside,” McConnell said in a formal statement on behalf of all Republican senators.

Other Republican senators weighing in included Jeff Flake of Arizona, David Perdue of Georgia, John Thune of South Dakota, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Richard C. Shelby of Alabama and Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania.

Under Alabama state law, the ballot cannot be changed within 76 days of an election, which in this case is scheduled for Dec. 12. But a candidate can still withdraw or a state party can request a state judge or the secretary of state to disqualify a candidate from the race.

A corrupt political machine that was ready to support Roy Moore or a Dem.
I'll take those odds even in Alabama.
Might be a reach, but give sane Americans the benefit of the doubt here.

These allegations make Moore a shoo-in in a red state like Alabama. Nothing says deplorable like grabbing women by the pussy and raping teenage girls.

Alabama state law does allow write-in votes to be cast in general elections, as long as the names are for living people and written in without using a rubber stamp or stick-on label. Muller said Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), who lost in the primary to Moore, would be an eligible write-in candidate.

Guns, God, sexual-predatory behavior.

That makes him even MORE desirable to those who live in the 'neck part of Alabama.

Don't see this racist, sexist, homophobic, child-predator stepping away from the race however.

Prove me wrong and leave the race you predatory, rat fucking, hillbilly.

Ol Roy defied the US Supreme Court. Mitch can kiss his old, fake Christian ass.

He will use these allegations as an assault from the Devil. Mark my words.

He will quote scripture and have his wife behind him. He will have his minister with him. He will spout some nonsense about how the Devil is against him.

The Oval office is occupied by a serial molester and harasser. This is what their base loves - racist, homophobic, misogynistic, pussy-grabbing, potty-mouthed pedophiles who fight for their right to oppress others.

A guy with a gun showed up at a pizza place without a basement to investigate far right wing fringe website conspiracy theories of a Clinton/Podesta-run child prostitution ring run out of its (non-existent, remember) basement. People are STILL showing up at Trump election rallies wearing Pizzagate gear for a conspiracy theory that just can't possibly have happened by all the laws of physics. And now Roy Moore has credible accusations of child molestation about him, and what do we get from his backers on the far right?

Meanwhile, Moore is the one who believes that being gay should be illegal in order to protect the children of America. The tired, stale, disgusting right wing trope that homosexual men are pedophiles, when it seems that the most common bond between the most recent high-visibility pedophiles is that they're all right wingers. Roy Moore, Milo Yiannopoulos, Dennis Hastert.

And I 100% guarantee that on Fox tonight, it will be wall-to-wall coverage of Louis CK. They can point to a liberal like Louis CK being a super creep and never have to look into their own backyard of misogyny, harassment, and molestation. I can't even coherently put together all of the strings of hypocrisy coming together on all of this. They'll jump on Hillary for taking Weinstein's money, but dismiss Roy Moore's behaviour as "southern courting customs."

Truly, we live in fact-free times. IOKIYAR might as well be printed on all US bills, at this point.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) called on Moore to step aside as well — and without couching his statement with “if true” language.

“The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying,” McCain said. “He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of.”

... none of these young girls are related to Moore. Not that it would make any difference in Alabama! Next, Moore is a Repub and a devout man of God, so he can't possibly be lying. So, I think we should let this fine candidate continue his run, after all, Trump is alleged to have done worse (of actually HAVING sex with a 13 year old), and he has turned out to be a terrific president. So two things can happen: He gets elected, thus continuing the nullification of the Repub party, or he loses, and we suddenly have made inroads into the deepest of the south. SaulGoodMan!
