Billy Graham in NC hospital with bronchitis
Source: Associated Press
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A spokesman for Billy Graham says the 93-year-old evangelist is being treated at a North Carolina hospital for bronchitis.
A joint statement Sunday from Graham's spokesman and Mission Hospital says Graham was admitted overnight for an infection in his lungs. The hospital is in Asheville, near his home in Montreat.
He is resting comfortably in stable condition.

(16,079 posts)I hope he gets well soon and that he gets that brain transplant he's been needing!

(384 posts)Kind of late to do it now, to a senior citizen.
Let's save that brain for a 40 year old evangelical.

(2,383 posts)He was my dad's patient (not saying where) and my dad is as anti-religionist and pro-gay marriage as one can be and I can honestly tell you that as an athiest and pro gay marriage he has treated Billy Graham. BTW doctors are only given the a-ok to who they treat and I know my dad has treated very well known patients but vaguely alluding to them (respecting dr/patient confidentiality) but Billy Graham has said he's proud of where he got treated so my dad got the a-ok to tell us who he treated.

(384 posts)Not to be confused. He's dead to me, that's all that matters.

(3,261 posts)And yet.. I'm pretty sure that sometime in the past year, I had another experience of saying to myself, "I thought he was dead already?" I think I manage to make myself forget that he's still alive.

(1,353 posts)Mr. Graham is very, very afraid of death. I hope he's thoroughly scared right now.
This is a man who pulled his 17 year old daughter out of college, and forced her to marry a 35 year old weirdo.
I remember as a kid I wrote Mr. Graham and asked him why animals don't go to heaven. I got a personal reply from him saying...animals don't go to heaven because they can't dedicate their lives to Jesus.
It was the beginning of my "descent" into atheism. Thank you, Billy!

I hope there's two million others he helped as well.
This is the sum total of what Christianity turns into in a post industrial super affluent society like the USA; charlatans peddling their religion to make millions.

(3,829 posts)Billy Graham visited San Diego in 1976. My parents forced us to go to an entire week of his preaching. On the forth day I receive a religious tract, which I read that night. I went to bed an atheist. Here's a short video of his preaching on the third day of that event:

(3,596 posts)I don't disagree with anything posted here as an objective matter. I think BG has done as much to harm others in various ways as nearly anyone else alive today because of the longevity of his so-called ministry and his patriarchal position within his family.
But I don't condone exploiting a person's health or death for making points. There will be plenty of time to reflect on his legacy which I think in the long run will be negative. His son is perhaps worse than BG or perhaps it is because I am following him more closely in my adult years.

I think a bit of kindness for the elderly, sick and dying should be shown to all regardless

To those wishing him bad things....well you should be ashamed just like those who wish bad things to happen to president Obama should be ashamed.

(22,000 posts)for two reasons: 1) I don't want to wish ill will on him and 2) Romney and Ryan will try to use it to their favor. So the second one is a bit selfish, but oh well.
