Maybe in 2018 we can prevent new sources of bleeding.

it's the end of The United States of America, as we know it. How any Republican can vote for this boggles my mind. Do they ever expect to be elected to office again? Just to appease their "president" and their wealthy donors. Not one Republican has any honesty, integrity or conscience. NOT ONE!

it has to be reconciled with the House bill (unless the House decides to pass the Senate bill as is, with no changes). IOW, both chambers have to pass the SAME version and right now, the House & Senate bills are miles apart.

This may be their only chance to do what they've always wanted; give huge tax breaks to corporations (that already took their jobs overseas), give gigantic tax breaks to their very wealthy campaign donors, and finally, above all else, they have a chance to do away with what they call "entitlements". The huge deficits are going to have to be tamped down with money from somewhere, and this "tax plan" makes sure that money will come from Medicare, Medicaid, and every other safety net program the United States government runs. How these pieces of crap figure Medicare is an "entitlement" is beyond the pale of reason. People pay into that plan their entire lives, just so the Republicans can "borrow" from it (doesn't "borrowing suggest it will be paid back?) and actually turn it into an entitlement. This gives them a chance to gut every safety net program in place, and they're loving it!
What is wrong with these people? Why does putting an (R) after your name turn you into a sub-human piece of shit?

8. The GOP controlled all chambers from 2001 - 2006

They passed the "Bush Tax Cuts", which dropped the top rate down to 35% during that time.

The issue raised in my post was that the versions of a "tax bill" are very different between the 2 chambers and they will have to somehow reconcile them right in the middle of them having to come up with either letting the government shutdown or authorizing another Continuing Resolution (must be decided by December 8th).

Democrats need 25 seats in 2018 to retake the House and those 25 are coming in swing/gerrymandered districts where you already see some of those GOP reps in those districts, bailing out from running again as they know this is bad.

The can't afford to waste any time, so I think they've already reached an agreement they can be happy with. They want to push this through very quickly, so I don't see them holding the process up over technicalities. Trump can't wait to sign something that actually means anything, then hold it up to the cameras so all can see what an effective pResident he is.

because if it is not done correctly, then they can't use reconciliation and would need 60 votes.
