White House denies report that Trump said Haitian immigrants 'all have AIDS'

Source: The Hill

BY JOSH DELK - 12/23/17 04:48 PM EST

The White House firmly denied a New York Times report on Saturday claiming that President Trump said that Haitian immigrants "all have AIDS," among other inflammatory comments.

The Times reported that Trump lashed out at top aides and Cabinet officials in a June meeting in which he bemoaned the influx of immigrants despite his travel ban on Muslim-majority countries, which he said damaged the credibility of his vow to secure the border.

"General Kelly, General McMaster, Secretary Tillerson, Secretary Nielsen and all other senior staff actually in the meeting deny these outrageous claims and it's both sad and telling The New York Times would print the lies of their anonymous 'sources' anyway," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement to the newspaper.

Six officials who attended or had knowledge of the meeting told the Times that Trump read from a list of the latest statistics on immigration since taking office in January.

Dump is a racist pig who's revealed his scumbaginess time and time again.

And hey, Scary Huckacreep -- have Tillerson, McMasters, Nielson and the rest of them come out and deny it themselves. I'm sure we'd just hear crickets.

These reports are not constructive until that happens. Individuals take a political risk, but I would prefer that they step up.

We have no video of Trump saying this.

So we have no confirmation, and thus it's only rumor so far.

Unlike right-wingers, who have the "guilt by accusation," I'm going to say this does sound like bullcrap, Trump did not say that.

We have Orange Julius Caesar on video saying "Mexicans are rapists" and "Moose-limbs (as he pronounces it) are terrorists." And don't forget Pocahontas. Now add "Haitians all have AIDS" and "Nigerians need to go back to their huts."

See how seamlessly it all fits together?

This is not WingnutDaily. The NYT still, to the best of my knowledge, adheres to journalistic ethics and norms. Notably, they second-source unless it's impossible. In this case, they've sixth-sourced.

I have yet to see any contrition from the "WMD in Iraq" fiasco from them.

Hence my calling for confirmation.

And we may never know. I don't think it's a huge deal either way, so believing them over the WH doesn't diminish anyone, and certainly doesn't put anyone on par with the notoriously disingenuous right-wing.
