Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews to Anchor MSNBC’s Primetime Convention Coverage

Source: TV Newser

MSNBC has announced its coverage plans for the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions in Tampa, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews will lead the network’s primetime coverage, with nearly every program originating from the host cities during the conventions. “Morning Joe” and “Way Too Early” will originate from restaurants in both cities, with the dayside news programs being anchored from inside the convention centers. MSNBC will also have another set for “Hardball” with Chris Matthews.

Live primetime coverage will run from 7PM-1AM at both conventions.

Why not Lawrence O'Donnell. Why not 2 women? Tweety gets the most air time out of all of them. I guess it could be worse, they could have gotten David whats his name from Meet the Press.

of political figures featured Michele Bachmann for the longest time, and I always thought it contributed majorly to her recognition by everyone; lord knows, it wasn't her ability. I disliked Matthews for having it on. Surely he had some/all control...

He is really very good at tv punditry, whether or not you always agree with him.

But most importantly...RACHEL MADDOW!!!

Matthews always goes crazy over his fondness for some Republicans. Lawrence doesn't do that.

I'm outside the US and don't get MSNBC here. I have CNN, but Maddow will be much more fun to watch especially during the Republican convention.

But I never watch it. Pretty solid CNN, CSPAN, MSNBC, SCIFI, etc. viewer for the decade before. Got into internet radio in 2005. Still youtube-ing.

I am glued to his show both Sat. and Sun. mornings from 8 to 10 am. Not much gets done. Poor Hubby can't play Sunday Morning Baroque, our local public radio station, downstairs cuz I'm busy watching the teevee machine...

When you come to Tampa, stop by either Czar or G in Ybor city. Those are two clubs that are in what is known as GaYbor, and they could use the morale boost

I don't need any mainstream media talking heads to explain/cover it. Criminal (R)s, which is all of them, will vote for the crooks they idolize anyway, regardless of how much more of their permanently repeated propaganda is refuted.

At this point in history, with every single issue (R)s support having been proven wrong, the mainstream media coverage of any of it is simply the media whores playing their roles as "defacto mouthpieces for conservative agitprop" -- NYTimes.

The media would do the entire country a huge service to call the (R) criminals on their crimes and insist on prosecution. They won't though, they'll just act out their media whore roles.

......nobody tops Chris Matthews. I think many on this site are overly critical of him. Honestly, if you only have one hour to get the best overall political zeitgeist of the day, Hardball is the show to watch. When it comes to contacts in DC, and a true understanding of politics, Chris Matthews is the best in my opinion.
