Pruitt Questions Whether Climate Change 'Necessarily Is A Bad Thing'
Source: Talking Points Memo
Scott Pruitt, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, wondered aloud Tuesday whether climate change might actually be good for humans in the long run a proposition unsupported by the conclusions of climate science.
We know that humans have most flourished during times of what? Warming trends, Pruitt told KSNVs Gerard Ramalho in an interview flagged by the Guardian. So I think theres assumptions made that because the climate is warming that that necessarily is a bad thing.
Do we really know what the ideal surface temperature should be in the year 2100, in the year 2018? Pruitt went on. Thats fairly arrogant for us to think that we know exactly what it should be in 2100.
Pruitt is not the only member of the Trump administration to question whether climate change might actually be a good thing. On a particularly cold day last year, Trump tweeted, Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming.

Yup, having large parts of the U.S. feel like Death Valley might be a bad thing:

(33,643 posts)So much fucking WRONG with this it's impossible to even know where to start.
The stupid is strong with this one.
We're rapidly heading towards a global average temp not seen in human history, even when there was 100,000 of us, let alone 6,000,000,000 of us, with a complex global industrial economy and trillions of $$$ invested in ports and low-lying properties.
You think we'll be 'THRIVING' with ZERO functioning ports (or even functioning PORT CITIES) because they're all underwater and abandoned?
And that is the tip of the proverbial iceberg, SCOTT you fucking moron. Do you have ANY IDEA how STRESSFUL change that is THIS SUDDEN, on a geological time scale, is going to be on the natural world, upon which billions of humans exist? The earth getting a lot warmer when there was 100K or 1M or even 100M humans on earth ... all living in primitive, highly localized conditions ... was one thing. But the world as it is NOW? Are you kidding me?
But hey, you're reasonable old at this point, probably won't be alive to see the worst of it, so why should YOU give a shit, right?

(90,815 posts)...a half an inch of rain a month later. That's it, half an inch. This is a hell of a drought. In my particular town the rain fell gently over about a 12 hour period, so while it didn't do much good it didn't do any harm either. Just up the freeway there was a freak "weather cell" that dumped the same amount over the burn area in five minutes, then I think it did it again. In any case the earth liquified and -- never mind.
If that moron had any curiosity he could google "Thomas Fire" and "Montecito Mudslide."
Scott Pruitt can go to Hell and take Trump and the rest of the Cabinet with him.
