Nunes: Mueller's Indictment Of Russians For Election Meddling Is 'Gratifying'

Source: Talking Points Memo

House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-CA) on Friday said it was “gratifying to see” special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictment of “Russian agents” who allegedly interfered with the 2016 election.

“The Putin regime presents a pressing threat to American interests, including through Moscow’s long-running influence operations against the United States,” Nunes said in a statement. “Although the Obama Administration failed to act on the Committee’s warnings, it’s gratifying to see that Russian agents involved in these operations have now been identified and indicted.”

Nunes said that his panel “has been investigating these threats for many years.”

“In 2014—the year the Russians began their operation targeting the 2016 elections—I warned about Russia’s worldwide influence operations,” he said. “In April 2016 I stated that the United States’ failure to predict Putin’s plans and intentions is ‘the biggest intelligence failure that we’ve had since 9/11.’”

I guess Nunes thinks that alleging the FBI are a bunch of biased traitors is the correct way to "investigate these threats" from a Russian government trying to subvert our democracy.

from blocking him, but flanking this set of indictments directly at the Russians, before indictments come down on the other criminal conservatives. And when that goes down, I hope he does it in Al-Queda style, swiftly and on all fronts at once.

Prove it Nunes. You didn't become chair of the committee until Mike Rogers retired at the end of 2014.

And in an interview with Foreign Policy magazine, we find-

Nunes, who was named Friday to Trump’s transition team, said he was angered by suggestions by some intelligence officials that Russia’s cyber hacking was aimed at skewing the election in favor of Trump, as it reflected a misunderstanding of how Moscow spy services operate.

“They’re trying to sow doubt in the world and with allies that the U.S. system is truly democratic and on the up to up,” Nunes said.

He added: “The truth is Trump’s going to be a lot tougher on Putin than Clinton ever would have been.”

Once he became a member of the Drumpf team, his tune changed from his April 2016 CNN interview.

Although all the reps and senators I can vote for are Dems.

It would be nice if the good people of Nunes' district give him the old heave ho this fall. Even if it's another R, it would serve him right.

Maybe they need some face time.

Nunes said in a statement. “Although the Obama Administration failed to act on the Committee’s warnings, it’s gratifying to see that Russian agents involved in these operations have now been identified and indicted.”

Nunes said that his panel “has been investigating these threats for many years.”

This is the guy who will go around taking credit and saying "You're welcome!" because the sun came up.
