The crowd was pretty unforgiving. Mnuchin said some pretty stupefying things - among them that sanctions always work their magic right away while implying that the new North Korea sanctions will fix the whole North Korea problem soon. When the radio host reminded him that Iran and Cuba sanctions have been on for decades with no changes in regime in those countries, Mnuchin continued to deny that sanctions take a lot of time to work and doubled down on his assertion that Trump's North Korea sanctions will fix everything now.

He also stated - and doubled down on when challenged - that Trump's tax cuts won't add to the deficit. He used some very creative and improbable math to "support" his claim.

The US economy is probably in big trouble. Unless a whole lot of starts align over the Trump universe, Democrats will have one hell of a mess on their hands when the pendulum swings and we get back in power. But then, Republicans will blame us for the train wreck of an economy that Repubs just created.
