Republican Massachusetts governor expresses support for national ban on assault-style weapons

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 03/01/18 08:47 AM EST

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) on Wednesday said he would be in favor of federal government officials implementing a ban on assault-style weapons.

Baker told reporters on Wednesday that a similar ban had been positive for Massachusetts.

"Look, I think the assault weapons ban in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, based on all the data that's available, has served this commonwealth well," he said, according to MassLive.

"And I think it would be appropriate at this point for the federal government to adopt something similar."

While Baker's not in the line of the old classic conservative, he's like Romney in that he's overall not trying to fuck things up. He wants to do a good job and he's not fucking insane, so he can bring some welcome different views to the process and how to implement things.

The most recent reporting on it and where MA places within it:

A further reminder of why I have little desire to move out of this state.

We're not the worst. 4th highest poverty rate. Gee, wonder if becoming a red cesspool might be related to these admirable statistics.

Does MA have a Retrumplican governor???

I don't care how fucking "moderate" they claim to be, ANYONE with an R after their name needs to be beaten to a bloody pulp at the ballot box, whether it's for governor, or the guy that cleans up dog shit at the dog park.

The only way to stop this entire shitshow is to stomp the fuck out of Retrumplicans all over this fucking country... and especially in places that we should.

This kind of shit normalizes Retrumplicanism.

Retrumplicans need to be beaten so badly that they never dare foist a piece of shit like Donnie Short Fingers on the world ever again.

Mass has long alternated Govs, Dems serve 4 to 8 years, replaced by"Yankee Republicans" as they were once called; conservative on economics, liberal on social issues. But, both the Mass Senate and House are dominated by Dems. The Senate has 31 Dems, 7 'pukes and 2 vacancies. There are 123 Dems in the House, 34 'pukes, one Independent and 2 vacancies.
