Florida Senate briefly approves AR-15 ban, then rejects it

Source: Tampa Bay Times

TALLAHASSEE — On a day filled with emotion, the Florida Senate on Saturday debated measures in response to the tragedy at Parkland to spend millions of dollars on mental health and school safety that lawmakers have long neglected and limit access to guns for the first time in decades.

In a surprise move, senators briefly approved and then rejected a two-year moratorium on sale of AR-15 assault rifles, the type used in the Feb. 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The unexpected action came on an unrecorded voice vote at which senators shout “yea” or “nay,” and it was overturned a short time later by a roll call vote of 21-17.

All no votes were cast by Republicans. Voting for the moratorium were all 15 Democrats and two Republicans, Anitere Flores of Miami and Rene Garcia of Hialeah. There is no record of the first vote in support of the moratorium.

but apparently all Republicans are as wishy-washy as their master, Trump. Way to stick to your guns (pun intended), Republican Senators! You're a bunch of gutless turds, and I hope each of you is systematically removed from office at election time.

My adopted state can be a nightmare. I live on the west coast near Sanibel Island. There are a lot of very good people here and yes the weather is to my liking. Always the beach lover.
But God, between the rednecks the old people (especially the ones with money) and a transplanted semi middle class it can seem hopeless hear at times.
I mean I can walk into one of a dozen stores in my area a by a military grade rifle or about any handgun you can think of.
But some cannabis? You know that "Drug" that mellows you out and makes you less likely to get hostile?
Well forget it.
Move to Colorado or Oregon You F*cking Libtard. I know some of these rednecks are toking their dirt weed every weekend with their "BUDWEISER"

There I feel better.

Will now have the targets on their backs for a change, especially Scott, and Rubio. and will be regretting their refusals to act while assault weapons used in mass murders are not banned. This is also moving across the country too. Trump's dog and pony show shows nothing but contempt for all the victims of mass murder from assault weapons of war. More reasons all Republicans need to be voted out of office. They could really care less as long as they get their campaign funds for their re-elections from the NRA. Trup and all of them know stats show the assault weapons ban reduced mass murder killings, and still do nothing to ban them. Unacceptable, and they have to go. No more excuses. They want more weapons in the public area, except where they work.
