A coalition of advocates on Sunday launched a push aimed at pressuring President Trump on immigration as the deadline for a legislative fix to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program nears.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), MoveOn.org and United We Dream kicked off the campaign at an afternoon event near the White House.
The effort includes social media components, grassroots activism, and a short advertisement. The campaign is a six-figure push, CNN reported, that includes television and digital advertising. The ad spot urges Trump to fix what you broke, before its too late and includes clips of the president speaking about immigration.
Trump announced last year plans to rescind the Obama-era program, which shielded young immigrations brought to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation, but provided Congress with a six-month window to craft a legislative fix. That deadline is Monday, March 5.
