Giuliani joked about Clinton's weight at Mar-a-Lago fundraiser: report
Source: The HILL
Rudy Giuliani made a joke about Hillary Clinton's weight at a Mar-a-Lago event for Republicans, according to an Axios report published on Sunday.
The former New York City mayor and fierce Trump supporter spoke before the crowd of 250 Republican donors in the ballroom of Trump's Florida resort. He reportedly said he had been there for Trump's wedding to first lady Melania Trump in 2005.
"Hillary was also there," Giuliani said, according to Axios. "And she actually fit through the door."
Axios reported that the crowd gasped and his wife, Judith Giuliani, gave him a "most foul look."

Really, though, there's enough to criticize about both 45 and Giuliani that I don't think it's necessary to get into appearances. I admit, though, that I think it's comical the way 45 tries to hide his baldness and pretend that the thing he wears on his head looks good. I don't think it's comical that he's bald. Some days I wish I didn't have to deal with my hair.

I joke about myself on a regular basis. I don't offend myself in the least.
I've lost millions - thrice. My own daughter's hate me, because my youngest was kidnapped by my enemies, 14 years ago; and I've not seen nor held any of my grandkids - since (staying thousands of miles, away - for their sake).
Gone from CEO of 1000 employees, to sleeping in storage lockers w bedbugs (long whistleblower story).

(3,185 posts)I've seen Chris Christie's weight mocked endlessly on here, along with Sarah Sanders' weight, face, and general appearance. Then Guiliani does it, and cue the outrage. The only material difference is that none of us, presumably, has the same kind of podium that Guiliani does.
One can't pride oneself on being "better" than one's political foes, then behave exactly as they do. It undermines the moral high ground more than a bit. I was tempted to point this out, but I've seen what happens to low count posters who go against the groupthink.
7962
(11,841 posts)And you're right; when you've got a low post count you can be tossed for just the slightest step away from the "line".
And yeah, I know. I've been accused, and I've seen it happen to others. It's pretty ludicrous, in my opinion, that the folks who pride themselves on being open-minded and independent thinkers so willingly engage in groupthink, and then take shots at conservatives who are engaging in groupthink.
MaryMagdaline
(6,853 posts)He is really stretching to make her weight a thing. She has a few extra pounds maybe. By American standards she is small.
Jedi Guy
(3,185 posts)Even if she were as large as Chris Christie, people here would still be outraged if he mocked her. Meanwhile, people on this very thread are mocking Christie. You can't have it both ways. If it's okay for us to mock Christie's weight, then it's okay for Giuliani to mock Hillary's weight.
Double standards are bullshit. If you criticize someone for doing X, and then you do X yourself, that makes you a hypocrite. When a "family values" conservative who attacks LGBTQ folks is caught engaging in gay sex, we rightly condemn him as a hypocrite. There's a lot of hypocrisy happening on this thread, and I think it's disgusting.
MaryMagdaline
(6,853 posts)Mock someone's weight. For us here on DU or other bloggers. I don't care if someone mocks christy's weight or trump's weight. They are vicious bullies. They can mock Hillary's weight, too, as they did bill clinton's weight early in his administration when he had a few pounds on him. I just think he was way off since she is not fat. Liberals mock huckabee sanders all the time. I am ok with that. (I, too, am overweight. Because Americans are so fat now, my doctor actually minimizes it because I am not morbidly obese. Even i know it is a health issue as well as a character issue.) sorry to disagree with you on this one.
Jedi Guy
(3,185 posts)We can agree to disagree, but my point stands. You* can't scream and moan when a Republican does X, then turn around and do X yourself. That's hypocrisy, and I'll call it out every time I see it.
* That's a general "you" in that sentence, not you particularly, MaryMagdaline.

Flame away. I know that since I have a low post count, that makes my opinion worthless to some folks here on DU, because clearly anyone who has a low post count and disagrees with the groupthink is living under a bridge in St. Petersburg.

(3,426 posts)Christie said: The president has the right to do what he wants to do. And if the president has absolutely no confidence in the attorney general, then the president has to act.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/christie-trump-reliance-family-hurts-200246319.html
On Sunday Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor who managed Trumps transition and remains a loyal supporter, said the presidents reliance on family members compromised his ability to run the White House.
But Christie, whose hopes of becoming attorney general were reportedly quashed as payback for his role in jailing Kushners father Charles, sidestepped the question of whether he thought the son should be removed.
Hard to imagine what they might really be thinking ,or is it. Christie said a while back there he thinks he'll come into the Trump administration on the second wave, perhaps he figures the first wave is a short wave. On the other hand perhaps Giuliani had a change of mind, perhaps he wants to fill the position. Thing of it is, Giuliani & Christie shared a cozy shack for years. Or at least since day before sept 11, 2001 the day Christie says he was officiated US attorney general New Jersey. Or that's what Christie would have you believe. Those Christie's bought into the Bush administration and for it Christie got to be US attorney general New Jersey. Funny thing is although it's not funny, those two are grabbing headlines at the same time, somewhat odd to say the least. What was he really thinking when he came on with that.
Old Rudy 911 911 911 , he'll slip it in there one way or another.
Or maybe Christie thinks he can out maneuver old Rudy 911.
Almost forgot ,trump likes those little nick names
Christie, let me see, the old red line , Christie, I'll do it, I'll do it ,I'll do it.
Rudy 911,911,911 and Christie ,I'll do it ,I'll do it, I'll do it.

Giuliani has frequently sparred with Clinton, a former US senator from New York, including falsely accusing her of not being in the city after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.
Giuliani also pushed conspiracy theories about Clinton's health, saying she showed signs of several illnesses while on the campaign trail.

(3,185 posts)We both know that people with low post counts are attacked if they voice an opinion that diverges even slightly from der ordnung. We both know that people with low post counts are tarred as Russian trolls. We both know that a low post count is used as a weapon, attacking the person's longevity on DU and not their argument. Don't pretend that it doesn't happen. It's one thing to respect members who've been around for a long time; it's another thing entirely to attack new members because they're new.
I figured it was best to just get that nonsense out of the way and save some 1s and 0s, as well as disarm that "argument" against the position I voiced.
