Zinke Withdraws Area Of Montana From Oil And Gas Auction At Last Minute

Last edited Tue Mar 6, 2018, 11:49 AM - Edit history (1)

Source: Talking Points Memo

A week before the Interior Department is set to auction off parcels of land in Montana for oil and gas leases, Secretary Ryan Zinke pulled a cluster of parcels from the auction on Monday evening.

Zinke, who used to represent Montana in Congress, first made the announcement on Twitter.

Zinke followed up in a statement to the Washington Post, saying that the department needed to study the area more before approving it for auction. Local environmental groups had protested the auction and warned that it could hurt the areas near the Yellowstone river, according to the Washington Post.

1. If he doesn't own the mineral rights on his home, let's get somebody to drill under it.

Or open up a strip mine.

Most people are unaware that they don't own the mineral rights under "their" land.

I say lets go for it, take up a fund and have someone explore the land after all the copper mine is pretty popular in the state, heck there might be a dabble of oil, send in a seismic team and blast sound waves down to see if there is any oil and gas pockets ...........................let's just trapeze all over his parcel of land, just like they did at Dakota Pipeline, why not.....................put a big old pipe on the land 48" in diameter above ground, nothing going through it just have it above ground ...................why not, the taxpayers after all own the mineral rights..................since that is what and how he thinks..............

is no way to run a country, and it can hardly be called public policy.

It's private policy. Depends on who you know if you get anything.

This is theft, graft, collusion no matter how you see it.
