President Trump on Sunday blasted Democrats for obstructing his nominations and urged the Senate to move faster to confirm his nominees.

On Wednesday he accused minority leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) of endangering national security by blocking some of his nominees for ambassador positions.
However, Democrats argue that a number of Trumps nominees have withdrawn or faced intense scrutiny for conflicts of interest or a lack of qualifications for their nominated positions.
At the top of the presidents stagnated nominees is Richard Grenell, a former U.S. spokesperson at the United Nations that Trump nominated to be ambassador to Germany.

(11,582 posts)Good grief! The ones we've seen so far can't get proper security clearances, have no related experience, are working for Russia or a Russian mob, are perverts, are billionaires seeking to control policy, or want to live lavishly on tax dollars with fancy furniture and first-class accommodations/flights (or a combination of some or all).
We need to keep the brakes on all his nominees.

(12,586 posts)Trump's going to really see some heavy duty obstructing. We've got Turtle's example of not even holding hearings on a new SCOTUS appointment, even when the Constitution requires it. Either Trump appoints someone with Kennedy's judicial philosophy and temperament (like the Rebugs said was a requirement for someone to fill Scalia's seat), or the seat can stay open until 2021.
Also, if one or more of your appointments can't be approved by a Senate that your party controls, what does that tell you about the quality of your appointments, Donnie-boy?

(54,378 posts)Actually, way back when the world appeared sane (and we all thought Hillary would be our next POTUS), even I was floated as a name for our ambassador to Germany. After all, I speak the language, am married to a German, and moving expenses to Germany would have cost the taxpayers next to nothing, since I'm already here.
However, my wife would have cringed at the pomp, and I wouldn't have wanted to take the pay cut (color me spoiled). Besides, with my penchant for speaking my mind, especially when I am confronted by useless bureaucrats or Nazi-style arrogance and intolerance, I think I might have lasted a week in that job--maybe not even!
