House Intelligence Committee Republicans have completed a draft report in their year-long Russia probe that states they found no evidence President Trump or anyone affiliated with him colluded with Russian officials to affect the outcome of the 2016 elections, a conclusion expected to incite backlash from committee Democrats.
Republicans also determined that while the Russian government did pursue active measures to interfere in the 2016 election, they did not do so with the intention of helping Trumps campaign, contradicting the findings of the intelligence community.
We've found no evidence of collusion, Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-Tex.), who is in charge of the Russia probe, told reporters on Monday. He noted that the worst they had uncovered was perhaps some bad judgment, inappropriate meetings, inappropriate judgment at taking meetings such as the June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower, which Conaway said shouldn't have happened, no doubt about that.
But only Tom Clancy or Vince Flynn or someone else like that could take this series of inadvertent contacts with each other, meetings, whatever and weave that into some sort of a fiction, page turner spy thriller, Conaway said. Were not dealing in fiction, were dealing in facts and we found no evidence of any collusion.

The conclusion is at odds with the impression held by the panels Democrats, who have interviewed the same 73 witnesses and scrutinized the same documents.

Michael Conaway (R-Tex), who has overseen the committee's investigation, said the Republican-authored report would be shared with Democrats on Tuesday, for their comments, additions and objections. We found nothing with which to make a criminal referral to [the Justice Department] on, he added.

WASHINGTON Even as the special counsel expands his inquiry and pursues criminal charges against at least four Trump associates, House Intelligence Committee Republicans said Monday they have found no evidence of collusion between Donald J. Trumps presidential campaign and Russia to sway the 2016 election.
Representative K. Michael Conaway of Texas, who is leading the investigation, said committee Republicans agreed with the conclusions of American intelligence agencies that Russia had interfered with the election, but they broke with the agencies on one crucial point: that the Russians had favored Mr. Trumps candidacy.
The bottom line: The Russians did commit active measures against our election in 16, and we think they will do that in the future, Mr. Conaway said. But, he added, We disagree with the narrative that they were trying to help Trump.
The announcement brought to an abrupt end to one of two remaining bipartisan investigations into the topic on Capitol Hill and is sure to provoke sharp objections from committee Democrats, who have been warning Republicans not to close the matter. Republicans have decided to end the inquiry even as new evidence has emerged that the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, is pursuing new lines of inquiry related to the case that have been left largely unexplored by the committee.

They looked everywhere so we don't have to. 
in the marathon useless and costly investigations realm.
Soon to be followed by "Unmask-gate", "FISA-gate", and they'll probably resurrect "Did Obama 'tapp' my phone?-gate".
But they know that. They also know that many of them will be without a job next year. I hope their protection of, and their collusion with, Trump, was worth it for them. There aren't enough lobbying jobs for all of them, especially the ones with a more visible profile. Fuck you, House GOP, fuck you!
