D.C. lawmaker says recent snowfall caused by Rothschilds controlling the climate
Source: The Washington Post
A D.C. lawmaker responded to a brief snowfall Friday by publishing a video in which he espoused a conspiracy theory that Jewish financiers control the weather.
D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) posted the video to his official Facebook page at 7:21 a.m. as snow flurries were hitting the nations capital. The video, shot through the windshield of a car driving west on Interstate 695 through downtown Washington, shows snowy skies while White narrates.
Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man. Yall better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation, he says. And D.C. keep talking about, We a resilient city. And thats a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.
The Rothschilds are a famous European business dynasty descended from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, an 18th-century Jewish banker who lived in what is today Frankfurt, Germany. The family has repeatedly been subject over the years to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories alleging that they and other Jews clandestinely manipulate world events for their advantage.

(30,613 posts)Through their massive funding of climate-denialist politicians, they force us to burn fossil fuels.
And yes, by powering increased atmospheric stirring, that can cause late-season snowfall and other cold-weather events in temperate regions. And for every molecule of cold air that travels from the Arctic to temperate zones, a molecule of warm air travels to the Arctic and hastens the thaw of the ice cap. That, in a vicious cycle, exposes dark water to the sun and speeds up the climate change.

Plus, any sense of privacy is completely lost when one accepts public office. Ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse against racism or even xenophobia.
As a poster said here on another thread, posting the wrong personal stuff on Facebook or Twitter could get your house robbed or worse. And, politicians can lose their position in office.

(58,785 posts)conclusion at least? Of course there is antisemitism on the far left, but it most commonly uses Israel's right-wing behaviors as excuses. Rothschild conspiracies are usually a right-wing signature.
Speaking of insults, I wish people wouldn't call people in this leftist political faction "progressives." Progressivism is an honorable and powerful technique of using group power to solve problems too big for individuals. Our nation is founded on progressive principles and almost all Democrats are progressives, certainly all liberals and also most of of our conservatives to some degree.
The very least we can do to protect the concept of progressivism from this kind of sullying is to capitalize the faction name.

(714 posts)There has been a surge of statements that we should vote for any Democrat to prevent allowing Trump or his buddies to gain more power. But if we vote for a person simply because they have a D next to their name, and refuse to apply a "purity test" to them, then people like Trump will run as Dems.
We have to make sure our vote counts, and that means not voting for people who do not represent our group.
This comment was made by a Democrat: it was stupid and used as a scapegoat to avoid talking about climate change, and does not represent our views. A Democrat who blames the Jews for the damage that corporate America has done to our climate is not a Democrat.
We need to make sure that if we vote Dem, we are voting for a real Democrat.

After that ad ran, every halfwit in the country, all Republican hate spewers started referring the the "Democrat Party" and "Democrat Senator" and "Democrat candidate", etc.
NO actual Democrat would ever use that kind of dirty, spiteful imbecile-speak to refer to him/herself or other Democrats.
That just doesn't happen.

(130,905 posts)Trayon White was born May 11, 1984,[1] in Washington, D.C. He grew up in a neighborhood in Southeast,[2] raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family.[3] His family was extremely poor, and he sometimes went hungry or without clean clothes.[2] Violence and drug dealing were common in his neighborhood, and at times he could not go outside due to the violence.[2] In his early teens, White began living with his grandmother. He stole cars, and was arrested by the Metropolitan Police.[2] He was not prosecuted, but his grandmother sent him to live with cousins to be raised. He spent the rest of his teen years living with them in an overcrowded apartment.[2]
One of White's teachers began mentoring him.[2] When the teacher died in an automobile accident, White turned toward Christianity.[2] His grades radically improved, and he participated in student government.[2] He attended TechWorld Public Charter School for at least one year of high school[4] before transferring to Ballou High School, where he graduated in 2002.[5]
White enrolled at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland, in the fall of 2002. Each week, he returned to the District of Columbia to coach sports with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.[2][3] White graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2006.[6]
White then enrolled at a master's degree program in public administration at Southeastern University in Washington, D.C., but apparently did not complete his studies.[6] (The school merged with Graduate School USA in 2010.[7]) >>>

The racism is repugnant enough to want this guy out of office but I need not even have that discussion.
I have his batshit crazy Rothschild Illuminati controlling the weather nonsense that automatically has disqualified him to hold public office and instantly makes him completely discredited as a public official.
We should not be entertaining this nonsense or making excuses for it.
We sure as hell should not considering him as a candidate for any public office or even to safely carry a pair a scissors.

That said, I will not give this man a pass on these comments. He is not some random guy at the end of the bar, mouthing off while drunk. He is an elected official, a Democrat, in a large US city. If he is smart and capable enough to do that, he is smart enough to be held responsible for his public statements.

But, despite him apparently having a bachelor's and a master's degree, he seems extremely stupid, since he fell for the BS about controlling the weather as a plot in the first place, and has had to claim he didn't realise what blaming the Rothschilds effectively meant, which indicates a lack of knowledge about bigoted groups and ideas. And, as you say, he may be reading or associating with bigoted groups. In which case, a better candidate is needed for the next election.
