Pro-Bernie Sanders group cancels Hillary Clinton protest
Source: NBC News
WASHINGTON A pro-Bernie Sanders group has canceled an anti-Hillary Clinton protest, its organizer told NBC News on Monday.
The event, created by the leader of a local chapter of Our Revolution, prompted backlash from Clinton allies, leading Sanders' top adviser to condemn it and disassociate his boss from the group, which grew out of Sanders presidential campaign.
The episode shows that, two years later, Democrats still cant quite shake the ghost of 2016 and the hard-fought presidential primary between Clinton and Sanders, the independent senator from Vermont. And it's another demonstration of the challenges Sanders faces in leading a movement that acts in his name but is often beyond his control even as he reportedly prepares for a second presidential bid in 2020.
Ellen Faden said she had no idea her protest would cause such an uproar.

And if anyone thinks someone from Bernie's office didn't call these loons and tell them this stunt was fucking his plans up, then I got a bridge to sell you.

(67,782 posts)The original event was posted on the NATIONAL Our Revolution website (see below). They were only "rejected" after the huge push back. Until then its clear that it was acceptable to the NATIONAL Our Revolution organization. Had there been no push back it would have gone off as an Our Revolution event.
Now the event has been cancelled and the same people, who are Our Revolution people, have reorganized it under a new name.
Here's what was at the bottom of the original announcement of the event:

(1,399 posts)It was never "obvious" that it was "acceptable" to anyone who isn't out to smear Sanders. NOT ONE "national leader" endorsed it in any way. It was an inconsequential blip until "certain" folks blew it up and tried to use this tiny little fringe group of people as a surrogate for their unrelenting Bernie hate. As soon as it became anything more, it was immediately and emphatically rejected.
It actually reminds me of another post that said Sanders should have spoken out about some miniscule local Our Revolution chapter who made despicable attacks on Sri Kulkarni in Texas-22 at the same time he said the DCCC shouldn't have put its national thumb on the scale in Texas-7 primary.
Yea, there are some people out there who just can't let it go. Yes, they say and do stupid and disgusting things. But Bernie is no more responsible for what his supporters say than is Secretary Clinton responsible for the things that her supporters say. The are responsible for what THEY say.
Having to repudiate every stupid (or worse, as in the case of Sri . . . who looks like a real good guy . . . thanks for the link, btw) thing one of your supporters say is a standard no one can meet and THAT is why it is being used by some to attack Democrats (as defined by the TOS) they RIGHTFULLY cannot attack on DU.
It needs to stop.

....we'd see a hue and cry about the "corrupt DNC", the DCCC (which you did, by the way), references to "DWS", etc.
The event was announced on the Our Revolution national website. If the umbrella Our Revolution organization can't rein in their local groups, they should pull back, reorganize, and get tighter control on all who act under the "Our Revolution" banner.

(1,399 posts)That egalitarian stuff is fine in small groups but you can't be all "We respect all of you as if you were Bernie himself, post what you want" with hundreds of thousands of members because, let's be honest, some people are just dumb f**ks

Thank you again for that link.

(260 posts)They STILL have not learned from 2016! More division! I guess we will have President Trump for four more years, unless he's impeached or something. Such a waste of time. Ironically, they are doing the same thing Trump & Company are doing. Hillary is not even relevant at this point.
