Feds: UAW official blew $6,900 at steakhouse with FCA workers' money
Source: Detroit Free Press
As promised, the federal government has charged another top union official in the growing Fiat Chrysler-UAW scandal this one accused of pampering herself and associates with $6,900 steak dinners and first-class airline tickets with money that was meant for autoworkers.
But the feds' torpedoing doesn't end there as two more high-ranking union officials have been implicated in the multimillion-dollar scandal involving collusion between auto executives and UAW officials.
The latest defendant charged in the case is Nancy Johnson, the onetime second most senior official in the UAW Chrysler Department who is accused of buying among other things $1,200 luggage, $1,160 Christian Louboutin shoes and $6,900 in spa treatments with the help of Fiat Chrysler executives.
According to an indictment unsealed Wednesday, Johnson, 57, is among several UAW officials who unlawfully accepted perks from FCA executives, who, according to prosecutors, were on a mission to keep union leaders "fat, dumb and happy." They did this by funneling $4.5 million from a training fund to themselves and union officials, who are accused of spending the money on perks galore, everything from golf resort fees and limo services to jewelry and a shotgun.

(347 posts)Sweet Thing and I have been married for 52 years. I'm a retired Army officer with 30 years of service, she's a retired high school teacher with 35 years in the classroom.
The only income we ever had was our two salaries and today we live off pensions and social security. We are comfortable enough, but, without Medicare, we would be bankrupt.
WTF good does it do to work, pay your taxes, be honest, don't take payoffs or gifts or bribes when I see those who do living in luxury???

You live quite nicely and have no guilt.
Greed always ends up exposed. And what earthly use would your wife have for a pair of $1600 shoes?
I have a closet full of shoes that I am now giving away to Charity. I am a shoe hoarder that has now broken the habit.
Things mean nothing in the end.

Do you think Donald Trump is a happy person? Read the 37tH Psalm. Even if you are not religious it is a great lesson on how to live your live.
The wicked shall spread like the Green Bay Tree, but fret not, they will be brought down. And,they always are. No amount of money or possessions can make you happy.

(12,882 posts)We only hear about the corrupted, because they eventually attract attention - like a festering boil. A boil isn't likely noticeable when it starts as an irritated skin cell. Of course, once it starts to cause discomfort, attention is drawn to it. Thing is, that awry cell is surrounded be millions of cells just doing as intended and trying their best not to be an issue - an issue tissue, one might say. Heh - as if network "news" isn't hard enough to watch - can you imagine if they didn't have misfits like these union idiots to yak about between commercials? Who would tune in in the evening to hear the numbing tales of two contented retirees enjoying themselves in their twilight years???
You're not going to hear about houses that didn't burn yesterday - or vehicles that made their commute and back without incident. Ask yourself how many neighbors of yours do you suspect are corrupt in some way. I'll bet it's not many.
