McConnell: GOP Will Have Political Winds 'In Our Face' During Midterms

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Matt Shuham | April 4, 2018 1:00 pm

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Tuesday that the political winds will be “in our face” during the 2018 midterm elections.

“This is going to be a challenging election year,” McConnell told Kentucky Today. “We know the wind is going to be in our face. We don’t know whether it’s going to be a Category 3, 4 or 5.”

“I’m hoping we can hold the Senate,” the majority leader added. “And the principal reason for that, even if we were to lose the House and be stymied legislatively, we could still approve appointments, which is a huge part of what we do.”

Separately in the interview, McConnell said that blocking former President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, from receiving a confirmation hearing following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia was “was the most consequential decision I’ve made in my entire public career.”

He should have said it was one of the dirtiest tricks I pulled in my career.

He should also take credit for the Republicans having to face hurricane-type winds. McConnell and Ryan will always be remembered for the horrible job they did. Hopefully, the mid-term election will wipe those stupid grins off their faces.

McTurtle's confession speaks loudly of the GOP's pathway forward. They worry NOT about meaningful legislation, they worry NOT about a Constitutional crisis brought upon this republic by Cheeto Tweetler. No....His and the GOP's only concern is to potentially and dramatically change the Judicial landscape of this Country. If for no other reason; and there are MANY, everyone that is not a part of Don the Con's moronic base or a tacit enabler of same, needs to vote for every Democrat on every ticket. This republic and our very livelihood depends upon the midterms!!!!

The fact is that because you couldn't stand it that an African American President was your intellectual, moral, and professional superior, you chose to overturn the precedent set by none other than founding fathers John Adams and Thomas Jefferson with respect to the appointment of John Marshall, a lame duck Chief Justice appointee by the former.

The fact is that you allowed your country to be run by a mindless and corrupt Russian agent.

It's not "political winds" traitor, it's a hurricane.

I think, telling them to get out and vote because judicial appointments. Notice how he sidesteps any call to support Trump.

Remember, whatever McConnell says is calculated to produce an effect.
