GOP lawmaker to introduce legislation to mandate picture of president, VP at post offices
Source: The Hill
Rep. Dan Donovan (R-N.Y.) is planning to introduce legislation that will mandate that post offices of the U.S. Postal Service display photos of the president and the vice president.
A draft of the legislation Donovan plans to introduce says it would require that official portraits of the president and vice president be displayed side-by-side.
The proposal comes after a Staten Island resident alerted Donovan that a local post office put up photos of former President Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, but did not display photos of President Trump or Vice President Pence.
Donovan is facing a primary challenge from former Rep. Michael Grimm, who finished an eight-month prison sentence in 2016 for pleading guilty to tax fraud and famously once threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony.

(19,204 posts)Of course Drumpf has never been inside a Post Office building, and probably doesn't understand what they do or how they do it. He just doesn't like it.

Amtrak is a government owned corporation. But the Postal Service is a government agency with an 11 member governing board, 9 of whom are appointed by the President with Senate confirmation.

We don't need a likeness of the Fuehrer on every wall.

(19,204 posts)thinks his picture should be everywhere though. He reminds me of Saddam Husein. Next, he'll probably want statues erected to him in every town square across America.

(5,271 posts)according to several friends of mine who work at Federal offices, it took longer than usual for the photos to be issued and installed. Not that they were complaining

(9,426 posts)Green Card. At the office was a large photo of G.W. Bush. After the fingerprinting, photograph etc. on the way out we have to fill out a card. One question was "What can we do to make your visits more pleasant in the future?" I answered "Take DOWN the photo of G.W. Bush" A week later, I had to make the trip again, since somehow my fingerprints did not pass inspection!

(50,562 posts)Amendment 1: The photographs must be funded by private sector contributions.
Amendment 2: The apparatus needed to hang the portraits on the wall must be affixed to the frame's cover glass, so that the portraits may be hanged in the correct manner. (Before anyone starts, I spelled the word between "be" and "in" the way I did on purpose.)

(22,888 posts)react to those two faces on the wall of their local Post Office. I worked in a USDA field office during the Bush administration, and every day I was tempted to scrawl the words "What me Worry? across that smirking caricature of Alfred E. Neuman.
