• Amid peace negotiations between South and North Korea, the nations announced a plan to build a massive rail line connecting several cities in China and Russia to the Korean Peninsula.

• Retrofitting North Korea's railways would enable increased speeds of 60 mph and heavier loads.

• The larger goal could be to position North Korea as a link for trade between East Asia and Europe.

So it can get wealthier, spend that on weapons, and still let its people suffer.

Do we want another Russia in the world?

If it in some way threatens the Kim regime, it ain't gonna happen until the Kim's are gone. Whenever that is.

due to the craziness of its leadership. Feed the people. Then decide what makes sense for the well-being of the nation.

Lil Kim was a gruesome dictator. His people were starving and he decided who got food and housing. The reason he was seeking a deal is because China agreed to impose sanctions on him and his country was quickly becoming broke and even more impoverished if that were even possible. Without China's help he was becoming broker by the day. Also one of his underground missile site had collapsed after his last launch so he chose another path: Peace and officially ending the 60 plus year old war between the two Koreas.

Keeping facts straight... it has nothing to do with anything that Trump has done, and Trump WILL NOT get "global" credit for the agreements between North and South Korea. The only people who will be dumb enough to try and credit Trump will be his base.

It's very interesting to see liberals oppose a country helping it's neighboring country build international rail lines to connect previously closed borders. The US trades with Vietnam, Japan, Germany, and others without much problem.

It wasn't too long ago when DUers opposed a nuclear deal with India lifting sanctions and increasing trade of food/produce. There were DUers opposing Obama's peace treaty and trade with Cuba also.

Keeping people poor because you don't like their leaders is a sick and twisted attitude. Sanctions punish the wrong people, never the leaders who live large no matter what. When keeping one's foot firmly on another's head, you get a great view of some things but it can be very hard to see privilege.

It connects north AND South Korea with a railway to China and Russia. Great and needed to ship SOUTH Korean products out; gives North Korea a non-military jobs program while it is being built.

Worth encouraging.

A rail link between sk and the rest of the world would be good for sk. Both China and sk are exporting nations. While the us gets left in the dust again...
