Texas governor says school safety talks will include gun control

Source: Politico

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas kicked off a series of closed discussions on school safety on Tuesday by promising to discuss gun regulation as one way to stem deadly violence.

The roundtable events follow a school shooting last week that left eight students and two teachers dead in Santa Fe, Texas. The shooting took place just over three months after the shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which 17 were killed.

Abbott, a Republican, said that over three days this week, officials, community leaders and a range of experts would discuss guns, mental health and the relationship between schools and law enforcement.

“The fact of the matter is, this is something where people across the entire philosophical spectrum can come together and reap solutions … whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, whether you are pro-gun or believe in more gun regulation,” Abbott said ahead of the meeting.

"Whether you are pro-gun or believe in more gun regulation." Except more gun regulation will never be discussed. He also said that (armed) teachers are part of the second amendment solution. Did you tell THEM that ? Because I'm pretty sure that no one who gets into education or teaching has a minor in marksmanship.

Then some idiot said that there should be only ONE entrance per 1000 students. Do you know what we call that in the military ? We call it a KILL ZONE. Do these people have even two brain cells to rub together ?

It is pathetic that every solution is on the table except the one that they refuse to even try. Yet they continue to say, " . . . we will do everything in our power . . ." BS, no you won't either if it means you have to stop whoring for the NRA.
